Klebsiella pneumoniae gram-negative

Resistant Gram-negative organisms such as Klebsiella pneumoniae and Enterobacter aerogenes. [Pg.338]

Enterobacteriaceae A family of enteric gram-negative bacilli (e.g., Escherichia coli or Klebsiella pneumoniae). [Pg.1565]

Elderly Pneumococcus, gram-negative bacilli (such as Klebsiella pneumoniae)] Staphylococcus aureus, Haemophilus influenzae Piperacillin-tazobactam, cephalosporin carbapenemP... [Pg.487]

Figure 85. Activity of some alkaloids on Gram-positive Staphylococcus aureus, 1) and Gram-negative Klebsiella pneumoniae, 2) bacteria. Explanations Observe that the value for Scutianine E and Xanthoxyline is the same (12.5pg). Alkaloids indicated in 1 but not in 2 have values of more than 100 pg. In the case of Penduline there is no data available (Refs [388, 389, 390, 394 ]). Figure 85. Aerobic Gram-negative bacilli, e.g. Enterobacteriaceae, Klebsiella spp., are pathogens in half of the cases, especially in neutropenic patients, and respond to cefotaxime or ceftazidime. Pseudomonas aeruginosa may also cause pneumonia in these patients for treatment see Reference data on antimicrobial drugs of choice, page 211, Table 11.1. [Pg.241]

B27, the HLA allele proposed to be involved in alkylosing spondylitis, shares an epitope with an enzyme from Klebsiella pneumoniae, a common intestinal Gram negative bacterium. Molecular mimicry is thought to result in cross-reactive antibody formation, joint inflammation and spinal damage. Along with many of the immunotherapies described for other similar arthritic autoimmune disorders, alkylosing spondylitis is treated with anti-inflammatory medications and a low carbohydrate diet to reduce intestinal K. pneumoniae levels. [Pg.289]

All of 16 different formulations of rattlesnake powder capsules, obtained in six different cities in Mexico, were significantly contaminated with Gram-negative coliform bacteria Escherichia coli, Klebsiella pneumoniae, Enterobacter agglomerans, Enterobacter cloacae. Salmonella arizona, and Salmonella of groups B, E4, and G 81% of the capsules were contaminated with Salmonella species, the most frequent being S. arizona (37). Contamination was probably derived from both the flesh of the snake and fecal contamination during domestic preparation of the powder to produce the capsules. [Pg.240]
