KATHON WT

KATHON WT Cooling Tower, Air Washer and Papermill Slimicide [Pg.233]

Microbiocides and slimicides for industrial cooling tower water, air washers and papermill process water. [Pg.233]

KATHON WT and WT 1.5% microbiocides offer a number of outstanding advantages  [Pg.233]

The active ingredient of KATHON WT and KATHON WT 1.5% microbiocides is a mixture of two isothiazolinones identified by the lUPAC system of nomenclature as  [Pg.233]

KATHON WT is a commercialized biocide product created by Rohm and Haas Ltd. [Pg.206]

Next, FIBCIDE-KF containing Cl-MIT (3 wt%) was tested as an additive to a coating material for printer paper. The coating material was unaffected by the addition of FIBCIDE-KF, but coagulation occurred when KATHON WT was added instead (Figure 9). Since KATHON-WT contains Mg salts, whereas FIBCIDE-KF does not, it is thought that this was the cause of the problems with coagulation. [Pg.215]

Further to these results, the microbicidal activities of FIBCIDE-KF and KATHON WT were evaluated. The minimum inhibitory concentrations (MIC) for Pseudomonas aeruginosa, Pseudomonas putida, Bacillus subtilis and Microbacterium sp. are identical for both compounds, so the microbicidal effect has not diminished (Figure 10). It appears that the biocidal effects are similar because the Cl-MIT in the inclusion complex is released into water, as shown in Figure 6. [Pg.215]

Cl-MIT was prepared by extraction from KATHON WT. KATHON WT (500 mL) was extracted with chloroform (2 x 100 mL). The chloroform solution was washed with water, dried (Na2S04) and evaporated to give an extract of Cl-MIT. The purity of Cl-MIT in the extract was measured by HPLC. [Pg.216]

Based on the scores over 72 hours (Table 7), the primary irritation index (PII) for FIBCIDE-K58 is 0.7, with a descriptive rating of slight irritation . On the other hand, the PII for KATHON WT is 8.0, with a descriptive rating of severe irritation. [Pg.218]
