Isolate Isolation

S. japonica Maxim. isol. isol. isol. isol. isol. isol. isol. (10)... [Pg.162]

Isolation. Isolation procedures rely primarily on solubiHty, adsorption, and ionic characteristics of the P-lactam antibiotic to separate it from the large number of other components present in the fermentation mixture. The penicillins ate monobasic catboxyHc acids which lend themselves to solvent extraction techniques (154). Pencillin V, because of its improved acid stabiHty over other penicillins, can be precipitated dkecdy from broth filtrates by addition of dilute sulfuric acid (154,156). The separation process for cephalosporin C is more complex because the amphoteric nature of cephalosporin C precludes dkect extraction into organic solvents. This antibiotic is isolated through the use of a combination of ion-exchange and precipitation procedures (157). The use of neutral, macroporous resins such as XAD-2 or XAD-4, allows for a more rapid elimination of impurities in the initial steps of the isolation (158). The isolation procedure for cephamycin C also involves a series of ion exchange treatments (103). [Pg.31]

Later, imidazolidin-2-ylidenes such as 14, a saturated, more electron-rich and nonaromatic version of the imidazolin-2-ylidenes, were isolated. Isolation of a six-membered tetrahydropyrimid-2-ylidene 15 and of acyclic structures such as 1629,30... [Pg.4]

To isolate acidic products which were not found by gas chromatographic analysis, the crude products were treated by ordinary methods, but only small amounts of viscous brownish red liquid products were obtained, and no adipic acid was isolated. Isolation of cyclohexene oxide was unsuccessful, however gas chromatographic analysis based on the two columns showed clearly the presence of cyclohexene oxide. Gaseous products included ethylene, 1,3-butadiene, carbon dioxide, and an unidentified C4 hydrocarbon in the ratio of 12 6 3 1. Trace amounts of other gaseous hydrocarbons were also detected, and any gaseous peroxy compound was not detected. These hydrocarbons were considered to be decomposition products of activated cyclohexene. [Pg.355]

Enzymes can be used in different formulations, immobilized or soluble, and with different degrees of purity, such as cell preparations and crude or enriched isolates. Isolation to a purified form takes time and effort and is usually avoided unless absolutely necessary. In many cases, molecular biology allows for an enzyme to be highly enriched (overproduced) in an organism, which reduces the need for purification (10). Such recombinant cells are, therefore, often used as cell preparations... [Pg.2125]

Medium-ring acetylenes (8- to 11-membered) with one triple bond are isolable compounds. Eight- and ten-membered cyclic acetylenes containing more than one unsaturated bond have been prepared and isolated. Isolable substituted cycloheptyne derivatives will also be discussed in this section. [Pg.129]

DIBOA was also found in aqueous extracts of rye pollen [64] and it was identified as a component of root exudates from rye (0.7 - 25 pmol / kg fresh weight). However, DIBOA contents in rye exudates differ considerably depending on cultivars (cv. Forrajero Blaer 25 pmol / kg fr wt cv. Tetra Blaer 0.07 pmol / kg fr. wt.). Interestingly, wheat cultivars tested did exude neither DIBOA nor DIMBOA, although roots of the wheat cultivar Alifen contained similar amounts of DIBOA than present in roots of rye cultivars [175]. On the other hand, benzoxazinones have not only been isolated isolated from rye but also from wheat and com exudates [68,176]. Possibly, the developmental stage and plant fitness regulate the composition of root exudate constituents. [Pg.216]

Answer We must recognize that a (transformer-based) flyback topology may or may not provide us with isolation. Isolation is certainly a natural advantage accruing from the use of a transformer. But to preserve isolation, we must ensure that all the circuitry connected to the switch side of the transformer ( primary side ) is kept completely independent from all the circuitry sitting on the output side ( secondary side ). See Figure 1-1 in Chapter 1. [Pg.185]
