One of the recent initiatives is the CAPE-OPEN consortium. This involves the collaboration of some major operating companies, software suppliers, and universities, with the support of the European Union (Braunschweig et al., 2000). The ultimate vision is to transform process modelling in a cooperative activity consisting of sharing a large number of components from a variety of sources. Moreover, the simulation might be conceived as an interactive process executed on different computers via Internet or Intranet facilities. [Pg.54]

This system is provided to NTSC, as directed by the Beneficiary. It comprises a main server located in Almaty running the dedicated software, and distant PCs in Aktau. The internet connects the server to the distant partners which, besides Aktau, include KAEC, KATEP, the IAEA, the Consortium and other partners agreed by Kazakhstan, such as Russian institutes, ANL, Japanese companies. [Pg.153]

The four cases were sent to the vendors of the selected software packages, together with a request to use these cases to demonstrate the capabilities of their software packages to the Eurokin consortium. The pre-screening of the software vendors was done using user experiences within the Eurokin consortium and the publicly available information about the software packages (e.g. Internet and journals). Subsequently, the authors used these four cases to test the selected software packages themselves, in order to ... [Pg.632]

In order to facihtate communications between software used by internal supply chain partners, multinational companies have tried very hard, but generally unsuccessfully, to standardize computer systems. The emergence of the Internet protocol has helped the interaction between powerful supply chain systems such as i2, Manugistics, Ariba, Oracle and SAP R/3 to name a few. The rigour and problems related to the vahdation process still remain. In spite of the complexity and regulatory requirements, or perhaps because of it, the healthcare industry remains a huge untapped market for e-supply chain. A recent study carried out in the USA by Efficient Healthcare Consumer Response (EHCR) consortium showed that the healthcare industry could reduce its overall supply chain costs by over US 11 billion (48 per cent of the current process cost) through the efficient application of collaborative e-supply chains. [Pg.181]
