Using any Internet search engine or portal, you can enter a keyword such as "resume," "job," "career," "job listings," or "help wanted" to find thousands of websites of interest to you. While Chapter 7 discusses how you can tap the power of the Internet in several different ways to help you find and land a job, the following is a listing of just some of the online resources available to you ... 

To give yourself every possible advantage, don t hesitate to find a friend, mentor, career counselor, professional resume writer, former professor, or anyone else who can offer you assistance in finding job opportunities, writing your resume and cover letters, preparing for interviews, and ultimately succeeding in the whole job-search process. Also, be sure to use the Internet and take advantage of the online resources available to you. 

With the development of the Internet, online access to scientific computing resources became possible. Diverse web technologies are used in this research to separately implement the one- and three-dimensional MRTM simulation systems. The web technologies used in the one-dimensional simulation system are discussed in Zeng et al. (2002). This section covers details of web technologies, especially Java technologies, that are used in the three-dimensional simulation system. The major goals and system requirements of the two simulation systems are also compared.

If you spend time online, you should become familiar with aU the dictionary help available on the Internet. Use the online resources by typing the word in the search box, or if you want to be more specific, type in definition + the word you want. You ll be offered definitions of that word from several dictionaries and encyclopedias. Typically, along with the definition, you ll find lists of or links to antonyms and synonyms from a thesaurus. 

The references are divided into three categories. First are the traditional references to scientific and trade journals. Second, we have chosen to segregate the patents which are a component of the technical literature to be sure, but not motivated primarily by a desire to disseminate information and instruct, but by a desire to exploit the technology commercially. Many of the questions which naturally occur to the reader are left deliberately obscure in patent writing. Third, we include a category for links and personal communication which expands on the ephemeral conversations and letters which had traditionally been referenced to include online resources in the form of links which may or may not be viable for future readers. Online search makes it simple to track down persons who might be willing to confirm or discuss a personal communication Also, the internet archive (aka the Wayback Machine ) makes even expired links potentially viable. 

Thanks to the vast resources available on the Internet, there s no need to visit a library, contact companies to request annual reports or press kits, or manually search through back issues of newspapers, magazines, or newsletters. Much, if not all, of the information you could possibly need about employers, industries, and specific jobs is available online.

Recent advances in chemoinformatics have greatly enhanced the utility of these resources and many are now accessible via the Internet.28 CHEMnet-BASE (www.chemnetbase.com) provides online access to a variety of databases including the Dictionary of Natural Products and the Dictionary of Marine Natural Products, although full access through CHEMnetBASE requires a subscription. The Chemical Structure Lookup Service (http //cactus.nci.-nih.gov/lookup) is an open access database and incorporates information from more than 80 databases on over 27 million structures. PubChem (http //pub-chem.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/) is another open access database that also links bioassay data to each structure. Measures such as the US National Institutes of Health (NIH) Public Access Policy Mandate should increase the amount of openly accessible information available on the Internet and facilitate dissemination of information. 

NIST Resources. The National Institute of Standards and Technology has a Standard Reference Data Program that maintains electronic databases on Analytical chemistry, Atomic and molecular physics, Biotechnology, Chemical and crystal structure. Fluids, Materials properties. Surface data, and Thermochemical data. Some of these databases are available at moderate cost as PC products (diskettes, CD-ROMs, or Internet downloads) and some are free online systems. A growing number of printed journals provide their contents online. Sometimes, this is for free—e.g., the Pharmaceutical Journal (http //www.pharmj.eom) of the Royal Pharmaceutical Society of Great Britain. But more often than not a subscription is needed. For details of other online pharmacy journals try the Virtual Pharmacy Library, PharmWeb (more information on these is given below in section, Internet Resources ), and the Free Medical Journals site (http //www.freemedicaljournals.com). Some journals will provide additional information online to their printed versions. Nature s Web site (http //www. nature.com) contains auxiliary data from authors, a link to a grant database and the opportunity to take part in online discussions. 

This is a free, Web-based search system that provides access to structure and nomenclature authority files used for the identification of chemical substances cited in National Library of Medicine (NLM) databases. It also provides structure searching and direct links to many biomedical resources at NLM and on the Internet for chemicals of interest. The database contains over 367000 chemical records, of which over 142 000 include chemical structures, and is searchable by Name, Synonym, CAS Registry Number, Molecular Formula, Classification Code, Locator Code, and Structure, (online from NLM at http //chem.sis.nlm.nig.gov/chemidplus).
