International Labour Organization

Concise International Chemical Assessment Documents (CICADs) are published by the International Programme on Chemical Safety (IPCS) — a cooperative programme of the World Health Organization (WHO), the International Labour Organization (ILO), and the United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP). CICADs have been developed from the Environmental Health Criteria documents (EHCs), more than 200 of which have been published since 1976 as authoritative documents on the risk assessment of chemicals. 

Sometimes erroneously called the International Labour Organization, the office is an agency of the United Nations formed to improve labor conditions, raise living standards, and promote economic and social stability. 

Published by the International Labour Organization s Constitution to promote the protection of the worker from sickness, disease and injury arising out of employment .

The International Programme on Chemical Safety (IPCS) is a joint venture of the United Nations Environment Programme, the International Labour Organization, and the World Health Organization. The IPCS evaluates the effects of chemicals on human health and the environment. A joint publication by the IPCS and JECFA, Principles for the Safety Assessment of Food Additives and Contaminants in Food (8), discusses the testing of chemicals used in foods, the evaluation of the test results, and the general basic set of data requirements necessary to evaluate food additives and contaminants.
