As an example of how to receive updates on EPA actions, the Interim Audit Policy for new owners of facifities was announced at 73 Fed. Reg. 44990 (Aug. 1,2008). There is an additional type of Road Safety Audit known as an Interim Audit which can be carried out during design or construction. 

The purpose of the qualification/audit is for the sponsor to investigate the standard practices of the contractor. Quality as well as technical capabilities should be evaluated. One should determine where the test article will actually be stored, the department that will conduct the in-life portion, make an assessment of procedures (SOPs) for dosing, identify differences between the sponsor s general practices and the facilities operating procedures (proto-col/study-specific procedures (SSPs), and assess the process of interim data exchange and the method of reporting of SOP and protocol deviations to the study director and the sponsor. 

Depending on the duration of the audit, interim meetings with the auditees may be necessary to discuss interim results, ideally at the closure of each audit day. For the audit team, it is very useful... 

It might be added here, that these responsibilities will certainly be transferred to their full extent to an eventual replacement Study Director. Since a permanent replacement will entail the privilege - or the burden, whichever describes the situation better - of accepting, with the signature under the statement of GLP compliance of the final report, the full responsibility for the quality, integrity and reliability of the data and the report, it will be one of the first activities of this person to assure him- or herself, as soon as practicable after taking over the new position, and preferably with the assistance of Quality Assurance personnel, of the GLP compliance in the study as it has been conducted to date. If this were to be done by means of an interim review or data audit, the results of such a GLP review should be fully documented, especially in such cases where deficiencies or deviations were found.

In the interim there had been a management change at NOSA, and I left the plant but kept in touch with their progress. NOSA had not contacted them or followed up on my initial system implementation intervention and training since my departure. I was subsequently invited back to conduct the first external audit of the plant during the December vacation in a private capacity, and my wife, also an accredited five-star safety auditor, was invited along, too. 

The design organisation or client can ask for an Interim Road Safety Audit during the design process so that road safety advice can be obtained before the more formal stages of design are reached. 

The Road Safety Audit Standard describes these Interim Road Safety Audits as being carried out and reported in the same way as the more formal stages of audit. However, it is likely that most nontrunk road schemes will have a less formal approach and the reports will be in the form of brief notes on the particular subject under... 

Within the surveyed group of senior Road Safety Auditors there is also an impression that Road Safety Audits are an interim step to a more inclusive road safety culture for future road development. The exact nature of the process that comes out of that culture remains to be seen. 

It would be beneficial to provide more feedback and achieve greater interaction between Road Safety Auditors and designers throughout the process. For these schemes, the best approach seems to be to set up early meetings between designers and Road Safety Auditors to discuss the elements of the scheme that may be contentious. There will often be compromises that can be made, for example in the choice of materials used. The use of Interim Road Safety Audits would be sensible in these circumstances, so that a design does not progress too far without a road safety input. 

The procedures are considered interim , pending the review and update of the Austroads guidelines as detailed above. The procedures are for new projects or developments, and are not used for auditing existing roads.
