Most popular adjuvants are the incomplete and the complete forms of Freund. The incomplete adjuvant is a water-in-oil emulsion by which the antigen is slowly released, providing a long period of contact between antigen and immune system. The complete adjuvant contains heat-killed Mycobacteria that causes a local injury and granuloma formation, thus providing a nonspecific stimulus. 

A 60-year-old woman receiving interferon alfa developed cutaneous sarcoid foreign body granulomas at the sites of a previously childhood skin injury (356).

Eibrosis is rare in brain tissue. It occurs around abscesses (see Eig. 20.4), in granulomas, and in desmoplastic and sarcomatous tumors. Fibrosis is more common in meninges. Meningeal fibrosis develops after traumatic injuries, meningitis, vasculitis involving meningeal vessels, and radiation therapy and as a desmoplastic response to a tumor.

This hardening effect resembles the fibrosis of lung tissues. Sarcomas may also develop later (228). Innumerable studies involving intraperitoneal injections have been reported. Inhalation is, of course, the most common route by which silica exerts a serious toxic effect. Thousands of inhalation tests have been made in the investigation of silicosis. 

Toxicity oxycodone CR consists of a dual-polymer matrix, intended for oral use only. Abuse of the crushed tablet poses a hazard of overdose and death. This risk is increased with concurrent abuse of alcohol and other substances. With parenteral abuse, the tablet excipients, especially talc, can be expected to result in local tissue necrosis, infection, pulmonary granulomas, and increased risk of endocarditis and valvular heart injury.
