Information sharing technologies

Create a pathway to demonstrate and commercialize new technologies and enable information sharing throughout industry about new technologies. [Pg.8]

When one draws a boundary around the system the general intention is to perform a safety analysis on the contents. Normally that would involve a deep investigation of the technology, its design, build and test and processes and procedures that have gone into its manufacture. However, in some cases, that information is simply not available to the party undertaking the analysis. There are a number of reasons for this but often it comes down to a lack of information sharing and the protection of intellectual property. [Pg.162]

With the development of information technology, communications and data sharing has become a pressing need. In tradition coal mine enterprise informatization construction lack of unified norms and standards, different mining area in the same item of information management with several subsystems, which lack of the necessary information sharing between systems and equipment, and in a state of information island (Zhu C 2012). [Pg.331]

Service system entities Dynamic configurations of resources, people, organizations, shared information, and technology (Spohrer et al., 2007). At least one of the resources has access rights, directly or indirectly, to all the other resources in the configuration. Normatively, service system entities interact with other service system entities to cocreate value. However, this is not always the intention or outcome of real service system entity interactions, which can be more like the outcomes of any two player game win-win, lose-lose, win-lose, and lose-win. [Pg.264]

Lee, H.L., Whang, S. (2000). Information sharing in a supply chain. International Journal of Technology Management, 20(flA), 373. [Pg.160]

Few supply chain efforts will not require collaboration with upstream suppliers and downstream customers. After all, this is the essence of SCM. Strategy components include information sharing up and down the chain, new roles for suppliers or distribution channel partners, the role of product and process technology, and trading partner contributions to our own effort. The charter should anticipate the need for this participation, and authorize the team to prepare requirements accordingly. [Pg.126]

Chapter 30 describes approaches that use technology to reduce costs through better information sharing. The technology needed for that sharing, for the purpose of this section, is secondary. In fact, much of the software and hardware needed may be in place already. [Pg.314]

We have pointed out that information sharing along the supply chain is difficult for many reasons. Inside the walls of a single company, department boundaries are barriers. S OP is an effort to overcome this barrier. The barriers are no less difficult across companies. Also, the traditional arm s length relationship between buyer and seller makes many reluctant to share information. Technologically, the means to share can also be difficult. The system at the supplier may not talk to the system at the buyer. [Pg.390]

Perhaps the greatest boon to information sharing has been the development and expansion of electronic technology such as the internet. This has placed a world of information into the hands of people across the world that otherwise never would have contact with each other. Text, photos, video, and other presentation formats have made the expansion and diffusion of information easier with each passing year. But while the increase in information technology has been innovative, it has also brought with it the need to be cautious about the source and to verify claims and material that are placed in the pubhc domain. [Pg.620]

Technology Transfer Process of sharing information about technology or manufacturing processes that allows governments or private businesses to benefit from the work done by other s encies. [Pg.1228]
