Infiltration Insoluble

Figure 2 is the same type of film removed after 14 days of intramuscular implantation. Here the collagen is fragmented and infiltrated with infiammatory cells. After 21 days, all control films disappeared except for the ones prepared from a mixture of insoluble collagen fiber and enzyme-solubilized collagen. Some of these remained for 30 days. 

Because asphaltenes are insoluble in light hydrocarbons (Cj—C8), the infiltration of gas or light oil into a fairly heavy oil, either in the reservoir or during migration, can result in precipitation of asphaltenes. 

For the reasons mentioned, negligible amounts of phosphorus are washed out from the soil by the infiltrating water. The annual amounts lost are typically 100 to 300 g per ha and even increased doses of fertilizers do not increase the amount of phosphorus washed out. An exception is that of silica sands (they show practically no adsorption) or acid peat soils, where insoluble forms of calcium phosphate cannot be formed. In these, phosphorus may be bound to sesquioxides and, in addition to this, these soils are not fertilized. 

An infiltrant comprises a hydroxylated hydrocarbon, a wax, a plasticizer, and a stabilizer, with the aqueous-insoluble thermoplastic particulate material being plasticized by the infiltrant. 

In spedfic-pathogen-free male Wistar rats, focal areas of epitheUal hyperplasia, a mononuclear interstitial infiltrate, and increased numbers of alveolar macrophages were observed after a single 3-h exposure to an aerosol of insoluble CdO (Buckley and Bassett 1987). 

PCB fluids are generally insoluble in water and, when spilled on the soU, usually settle first as a pool on the ground surface before infiltration and downward movement through multilayered soil, water, and soil gases. The Uquid fills the pores at the soU surface and begins to penetrate downward. Some of the lighter components wUl evaporate. The downward transport of oils and immiscible Uquids has been extensively reviewed (Greenkom, 1983). 

To explore methods for doing this, we have infiltrated the supporting medium (agar, starch, acrylamide) into folded or rolled paper or other fibrous support. The electrophoresis is done in the compact form, then the fibrous support is unrolled and treated with histochemical reagents applied in parallel paper strips. The strips may be removed at different times or replaced by others containing different reagents. Much further work remains to be done to extend these exploratory studies to the production of working prototypes. However, no insoluble problems appear to have been uncovered thus far. 

As water is withdrawn, the water table in the vicinity of the well is lowered. This drawdown of water creates a zone of depression. In extreme cases the groundwater is severely depleted and siuface land levels can even subside (which is one reason that Venice, Italy is now very vulnerable to flooding). Heavy drawdown can result in infiltration of pollutants from sources such as septic tanks, municipal refuse sites, and hazardous-waste dumps. When soluble iron(II) or manganese(II) are present in groundwater, exposure to air at the well wall can result in the formation of deposits of insoluble iron(III) and manganese(IV) oxides produced by bacterially catdyzed processes ...
