Procedures for the use of this apparatus were developed by the Dow Chemical Company and have been tested by the EPA Industrial Technology Division Office of Water Regulations and Standards. Those tests indicate that based on the recovery of labeled analytes, the extraction by SDS apparatus is as good, or better, than extraction by Soxhlet alone.

This report is by Battelle Columbus Division to the Line Pipe Research Supervisory Committee of the American Gas Association. It presents an analysis of statistical data obtained from reports of lea)c or rupture (service) incidents and test failures in natural gas transmission and gathering lines over the 14.5 year period from 1970 through June, 1984. All gas transmission companies were required to notify the Office of Pipeline Safety Operations in the event of a "reportable" incident, as defined by the Code of Federal Regulations. The purpose of the study is to organize the reportable incident data into a meaningful format from which the safety record of the industry can be assessed.

Dr Yoshinobu Hirayama, Director, Evaluation Division 1, of the MHW Pharmaceuticals and Medical Devices Evaluation Centre confirmed that the current GAIYO (Expert Report) will be replaced by CTD Module II documents. He cautioned, however, that although the CTD provides a common content and format, there will be cases where differences would necessarily occur in dossiers for the three regions (e.g. there may be different dosage recommendations and different quality requirements). He sympathised its the impact on industry who would feel the burden of transition more than regulators and indicated that the transition time before the CTD...
