Other acceptable assays include drug effect on NK cell function in vitro bastogenesis, cytotoxic T cell function, cytokine production, delayed-type hypersensitivity, host resistance to infections or implanted tumors.

It is important to note that most of the results were obtained by treating animals with C. parvum before, simultaneously or just after the inoculation of tumor cells, although in one report (Fisher et al., 1975) antitumor effects of C. parvum were observed on well-implanted tumors. The antitumor effects were shown to be associated with the stimulation of cell-mediated immunity macrophage numbers were increased, their chemotaxis was enhanced, as well as the secretion of lysosomal acid hydrolase (Wilkinson,... 

Although isoflavones may be antieareinogenic, data from a limited number of intervention studies has generated concerns regarding increased risk of BC (Petrakis et al. 1996 McMichael-Phillips et al. 1998). However, data is limited and requires further investigation. Animal studies have shown conflicting results. Some studies have shown that GEN has a suppressive effect on chemically-induced tumors (Con-stantinou et al. 1996 Fritz et al. 1998), whereas other studies showed that GEN could stimulate the growtii of mammary implanted tumors (Hilakivi-Clarke et al. 1999). So far, there is no direct association between isoflavone eonsumption and increased risk of other cancer types.
