Bis[4-ethoxyphenyltelluro]methane was also isolated as the dibromomethane adduct (m.p. 154°) or as the diiodomethane adduct (m.p. 118°) from reaction mixtures consisting of the arenetellurolate, the dihalomethane and ethanol/benzene/aqueous sodium hydroxide . Reactions with dichloromethane gave products of indefinite composition . 

SOLUTION TO 10a Although an amine cannot undergo an elimination reaction, a quaternary ammonium hydroxide can. The amine, therefore, must first be converted into a quaternary ammonium hydroxide. Reaction with excess methyl iodide converts the amine into a quaternary ammonium iodide, and treatment with aqueous silver oxide forms the quaternary ammonium hydroxide. Heat is required for the elimination reaction. 

According to Jawed et al. [35] the elongation of induction period is the function of calcium ions concentration growth until the required supersaturation in relation to Ca(OH)2 is reached. The zinc hydroxide reaction with calcium hydroxide leads to the formation of complex hydroxyanion the latter is further precipitated as a calcium salt poorly soluble. As a consequence the concentrations of OH" and Ca ions decrease and the hydration is retarded.
