SolubiHty of carbon dioxide in ethanolamines is affected by temperature, amine solution strength, and carbon dioxide partial pressure. Information on the performance of amines is available in the Hterature and from amine manufacturers. Values for the solubiHty of carbon dioxide and hydrogen sulfide mixtures in monoethanolamine and for the solubiHty of carbon dioxide in diethanolamine are given (36,37). SolubiHty of carbon dioxide in monoethanolamine is provided (38). The effects of catalysts have been studied to improve the activity of amines and provide absorption data for carbon dioxide in both mono- and diethanolamine solutions with and without sodium arsenite as a catalyst (39). Absorption kinetics over a range of contact times for carbon dioxide in monoethanolamine have also been investigated (40). [Pg.22]

The effects of tin/palladium ratio, temperatnre, pressnre, and recycling were studied and correlated with catalyst characterization. The catalysts were characterized by chemisorption titrations, in situ X-Ray Diffraction (XRD), and Electron Spectroscopy for Chemical Analysis (ESCA). Chemisorption studies with hydrogen sulfide show lack of adsorption at higher Sn/Pd ratios. Carbon monoxide chemisorption indicates an increase in adsorption with increasing palladium concentration. One form of palladium is transformed to a new phase at 140°C by measurement of in situ variable temperature XRD. ESCA studies of the catalysts show that the presence of tin concentration increases the surface palladium concentration. ESCA data also indicates that recycled catalysts show no palladium sulfide formation at the surface but palladium cyanide is present. [Pg.135]

Data for the hydrogen sulfide-water and the methane-n-hexane binary systems were considered. The first is a type III system in the binary phase diagram classification scheme of van Konynenburg and Scott. Experimental data from Selleck et al. (1952) were used. Carroll and Mather (1989a b) presented a new interpretation of these data and also new three phase data. In this work, only those VLE data from Selleck et al. (1952) that are consistent with the new data were used. Data for the methane-n-hexane system are available from Poston and McKetta (1966) and Lin et al. (1977). This is a type V system. [Pg.258]
