Hydrogen solubilities

The critical hydrogen content for the ductility loss increased with increasing hydrogen solubility in the alloy. The fracture surfaces were not characteristic of those found under conditions of SCC. In terms of hydrogen and deuterium solubility in a similar series of bcc alloys, the equilibrium constants were determined at infinite dilution as a function of temperature The free energy function was expressed in terms of the bound-proton model.

The hydrogen solubility at the sample surface is strongly dependent on the rf power density (Chevallier et al., 1986). 

In another publication, Dyson et al. [59] reported on hydrogen solubilities in several ionic liquids obtained by the use of H-NMR technique. The results are summarized in Table 41.2.

No comprehensive compilation of published hydrogen solubility data is available. However, useful data sources can be found elsewhere [7, 8, 15, 16]. As a well-known general trend for mono- or di-atomic non-polar gases, the solubility... 

Hydrogen + water. Battino (4) selected 69 solu-bility values from nine papers that reported measurements between temperatures of 273 and 348 K. The mole fraction solubilities at one atmosphere partial pressure of hydrogen at the higher temperatures were estimated from the data of Wiebe and Gaddy (11), Pray, Schweichert, and Minnich (12 ), and Stephan, Hatfield, Peoples and Pray (1 ). The data from Pray, Schweichert and Minnich were combined with Battino s selected data in a linear regression to obtain the tentative four constant equation for the hydrogen solubility in water between 350 and 600 K (Figure 7 and Table V).
