Hunting issues

The ongoing development of top-down protein MS/MS capabilities (MS/MS) should prove quite valuable to researchers looking to identify and characterize proteins fractionated by 2DLC separations. Such methods are currently limited by restrictions on the maximum size of proteins analyzed, as well as analysis time-requirements that limit coupling of these methods with online LC analysis. Investigators from labs, such as Kelleher, McLafferty, Hunt (Coon et al., 2005 Meng et al., 2005 Han et al., 2006), and others are rapidly addressing these issues, and their methods will likely be adopted by many other researchers over the next few years. 

In reviewing Herman Mark s early years and rise to prominence as a physical scientist the author wishes to make special note of the use of an earlier profile of Prof. Mark by Morton M. While the EPA used to list DEHA as a toxic chemical, for some reason it no longer does. But we re not convinced. We want more concrete evidence that a chemical formerly labeled toxic won t harm us when it leaches out of plastic, especially when we re pregnant or breastfeeding. Exercising caution when it comes to plastic makes even more sense when you take into account another study done by Dr. Patricia Hunt in the April 2003 issue of Current Biology, which reported that exposure to bisphenol-A (BPA) causes a chromosomal abnormality in the oocytes, or egg cells, of female mice. Polycarbonate plastic ( 7), used for everything from glasses to bowls, is manufactured with bisphenol-A. 

Deactivation of the copper zeolites under de-NO, conditions was one of the major reasons why the catalyst was never used in a commercial application. Recent environmental legislation intensified the hunt for a water- and sulfur-stable active catalyst One of the most successful preparative methods was reported by HaU and Feng [42, 43].
