Horizontal table filters

The rotary tilting pan filter is similarly oriented to the horizontal table filter but the single cloth is replaced with a series of annular compartments, each one of which is discrete and lined along its perforated bottom by an individual filter cloth. In the cycle, constant vacua are applied over the cloth... [Pg.332]

Slurries of free-filtering sohds that are difficult to suspend are sometimes filtered on a top-feed drum filter or filter-diyer. An example application is in the production of table salt. An alternative for slurries of extremely coarse, dense solids is the internal drum filter. In the chemical-process industiy both top-feed and internal drums (which are described briefly by Emmett in Schweitzer, op. cit., p. 4-41) have largely been displaced by the horizontal vacuum filter (q.v). [Pg.1714]

Intensive soluble recovery or removal of contaminants from the cake as accomplished by countercurrent washing operations. This is especially the case with horizontal belt, tilting pan and table filters, which are described later in this subseetion,... [Pg.345]

The horizontal rotary table filter incorporates, as its name suggests, a horizontal rotary circular table divided into segments or drainage compartments, each of which is ported to a rotary valve underneath the table. The top surface of the table is fitted with a filter medium and walls are provided around the periphery of the table and around the hub. The feed slurry is distributed across the table through a feed box and vacuum is applied to... [Pg.411]

Representative commercial sizes of some types of pressure filters for operation in batch modes are reported in Table 11.11. Some of these data are quite old, and not all of the equipment is currently popular thus manufacturers should be consulted for the latest information. Commercially available size ranges of continuous belt, rotary drum, rotary disk, and horizontal rotary filters are listed in Table 11.12. For the most part these devices operate with vacua of 500 Torr or less. [Pg.321]

Cycle times, air rates, and minimum cake thicknesses in operation of rotary drum filters are stated in Table 11.13. A few special applications of horizontal belt filters are given in Table 11.14, but in recent times this kind of equipment is taking over many of the traditional functions of rotary drum filters. Belt filters are favored particularly for fieely filtering slurries with wide range of particle sizes. [Pg.321]

Table 11.13 is a hst of typical applications of industrial filters and Table 11.15 contains performance data for horizontal belt filters. [Pg.349]
