HOOK program

The work reported by Eisen et describes a specialized analysis tool called TABLE. To set the context for our discussion of the TABLE functionality, we give a short description of the HOOK program. [Pg.94]

TABLE analyzes that output file and allows interactive manipulation of the data generated by the HOOK program by means of spreadsheet-like functions. These capabilities allow a user of HOOK to select molecules from a larger set by setting various criteria of significance to the user. TABLE also acts... [Pg.94]

A further illustration of the use of the TABLE functions was given recently by Caflisch and Karplus, who sorted 4494 potential thrombin ligands by the number of hooked groups and overlap score. According to Eisen et al., the flexibility of the TABLE program allows other methods of ranking the structures from the HOOK program to be incorporated easily. [Pg.95]

With the recent appearance of twelve-step programs not only for food and relationship junkies but also for those hooked on debt or on the internet, perhaps these words have lost some of their rhetorical force. Still, the caveat is well taken we should remain wary of the tendency to conflate devotion and addiction, temptation and compulsion. [Pg.4]

Eisen, M. B., Wiley, D. C., Karplus, M., Hubbard, R. E. (1994) HOOK a program for finding novel molecular architectures that satisfy the chemical and steric requirements of a macromolecule binding site. Proteins 19, 199-221. [Pg.252]

You have some ideas. Garudin fished with vicious hooks, and Fitz s thoughts just couldn t help biting. For example, you suppose the Doctor may have returned and brought her back in the TARDIS. Or she got hold of that soldier s belt, and worked out how to program it. But it s all pure conjecture, Fitz, and way off the mark. ... [Pg.94]

In November 1976, CBS s "Sixty Minutes" news feature program accused Pennwalt of marketing amphetamine-based diet pills, with the deliberate objective of creating a "hooked" market of dependent amphetamine users. Commentator Mike Wallace cited a 1970 Pennwalt internal memorandum to substantiate this allegation. [Pg.345]

When the program was functioning correctly, we fed in all the data we had in the computer, producing the total picture (Figure 2). On this plot, the overlap of ceremonial vessels and belt hooks is marvelously confused. This plot does not include any weapons, nor does it include any analyses not made in the Freer Gallery laboratory, or under our strict supervision, or by R. J. Gettens and his students before he came to the Freer. In other words, most of the analyses represented here were made by standard wet chemical techniques (7). [Pg.298]

The program (TGPL78) and its associated subroutine (AX12) written in FORTRAN, are reproduced as Appendixes II and III. A computer-drawn flow chart of the program is shown in Appendix IV. In the computer memory we have a large file of our Chinese bronze analyses both for major and trace elements. Some additional data as to the bronze type, date, provenance, whether it has been dated by thermoluminescence, and what the lead isotope ratios are if measured are also in this file. For the 150 Chinese belt hooks which we have analyzed, we also include three lines of shape and typological data. [Pg.321]

A sincere welcome and thanks go out to two new authors and former students of mine, Tara Sacco, MS, BS, RN and Jennifer Byrnes, MLS, MPH (University of Rochester). Tara is a graduate of the Leadership in Health Care Systems program in Health Promotion and Health Education Jennifer is a graduate of the Master s in Public Health program. Both are talented researchers and writers, and it is my guess that you will be hearing more from them in the future. Their chapters on Traumatic Injuries Due to Explosions and Blast Effects, and Emerging Infectious Diseases (respectively) broadly expanded the clinical focus of the hook and provided valuable new clinical resource information for nurses. [Pg.664]

As usual. I ve experimented with myself and with my family and friends, especially with some of the dietary suggestions. One particular winner is getting into the habit of making fruit smoothies as a quick breakfast. Each smoothie contains four to five servings of fruit, enough to make a dietitian smile for the entire day. Try one and you ll be hooked. Another component of my daily program is a relaxing cup of hot cocoa before bedtime. [Pg.8]
