Holding force

Pressure-Sensitive Adhesives. A pressure-sensitive adhesive, a material which adheres with no more than appHed finger pressure, is aggressively and permanently tacky. It requkes no activation other than the finger pressure, exerts a strong holding force, and should be removeable from a smooth surface without leaving a residue. 

All presented forces are detaching forces. An increase in these forces will decrease the diameter of the droplets. On the contrary, the interfacial force caused by a uniform interfacial tension along the pore border is a holding force increasing this force will... 

In the case of suspension cultures, the mechanical properties of 2-week-old root callus cells of tomato (Lycopersicon esculentum) were investigated. These cells are approximately 70 pm in diameter, which allowed a clear side view of the compression to be recorded. Bursting forces were approximately 5mN, at a compression rate of 23pms 1 (Blewett et al., 2000). It is not appropriate to discharge a potentially suicidal patient from the emergency department without a careful psychiatric evaluation. Most states have provisions for the physician to place an emergency psychiatric hold, forcing involuntary patients to remain under psychiatric observation for up to 72 hours. 

Shrink films, like stretch films, use the tendency of a film to try to return to a smaller dimension after deformation to provide a tight wrap around a packaged object. In shrink film the product is loosely packaged, and when it is exposed to heat, the film shrinks. The resistance of the product on the film provides the holding force. 

The further you move from the cylinder in the direction of the screw hub, the more these holding forces can only be passed on through the internal structure of the mass up to the hub. 

On the basis of previous test data, the holding force of this clutch should be a minimum of 500 lb at 100 mamp current, and it should release a 600-lb load held at 140 mamp current in IS msec or less.
