History Data

Like concomitant medication data, patient medical history data are collected in one of two forms a list-type free-text format where the histories get coded, or a pre-categorized data format. Here is the free-text CRF format  [Pg.29]

Protocol Name Patient Number - Visit Identifier [Pg.29]

the free-text CRF format is useful in that it allows for explicit description of the historical condition, whereas the pre-categorized CRF format omits that detail. However, the free-text list format necessitates coding with a coding dictionary such as MedDRA in order to be useful for analyses. The pre-categorized format is useful here, as only medical history relevant to the investigational therapy can be captured and the cost of additional coding of the history data is eliminated entirely. [Pg.29]

Medical history data may be used in either safety or efficacy analyses. The presence of historical medical conditions may be used as covariates for inferential analyses. Also, medical histories are typically summarized to show that the therapies under study come from study populations with comparable disease histories. Medical histories may be used to determine protocol compliance and to help define a protocol-compliant study population. Medical history is considered a finding from a CDISC perspective. [Pg.30]

Note that by changing the aesev variable to the aerel variable throughout Program 5.4, you can easily change the previous adverse event summary to a summary of adverse events by maximum drug relatedness. Also, if you remove the maximum severity steps, you get a typical overall summary of adverse events by body system and preferred term. Since patient medical history data are also often coded with MedDRA, patient medical history data may be summarized much like an overall summary of adverse events. However, frequently medical histories are collected in a checklist/checkbox format so that using a coding dictionary is unnecessary. [Pg.162]

Figure 9-1 gives production pressure history data for a typical black oil reservoir. The reservoir in this case does not have a gas cap and is not connected to an aquifer. The conventional method of plotting these data is against time. However, the trends we want to see are more apparent when the data are plotted against cumulative production, as in Figure 9-2. [Pg.249]

It has been shown how various factors can affect the appearance of XRD patterns and how the subtle differences in those patterns can be used to gain valuable structural and characterization information. It is clear that in order to understand a material and define it properly, all of these factors must be examined carefully. Techniques in addition to XRD, particularly electron microscopy, but also sorption and spectroscopy, should be utilized when attempting to understand the nature of a new catalyst material. Finally, it must be recognized that published XRD powder data for a given material can tell much about its structural nature but, to interpret the XRD data properly, it is also necessary to be aware of sample history, data collection parameters, morphology, etc. In short, one must know as much as possible about the various factors that affect the x-ray diffraction characteristics of catalyst materials. [Pg.303]

Another important contributor of uncertainty is the incompleteness of the data or information upon which the risk assessment is based. In some instances, the risk assessment may be halted temporarily until additional information is obtained. In other cases, certain basic information such as life history data may be unobtainable with the resources available to the risk assessment. In yet other cases, fundamental understanding of some natural... [Pg.458]

Intake of process flavors from foods in various categories was determined based on the Nationwide Food Consumption Survey (NFCS) database, which was derived from surveys of U.S. food consumption conducted by the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) in 1977-1978. Although 1987-1988 data were available, the 1977-1978 data were considered to be more representative of the general population (n= 30,770 n = 28,006 for individuals providing a 3-day diet history) than the more recent 1987-1988 data (n = 10,193 total n = 8,224 with a three-day diet history). Data were not available for the years after 1988 at the time the analyses reported here were performed. [Pg.29]
