High-affinity IgE receptors

D, Kinet JP, Stingl G The high affinity IgE receptor (FceRI) mediates IgE-dependent allergen presentation. J Immunol 1995 154 6285-6290. [Pg.43]

Our understanding of anaphylaxis has advanced substantially since the original description of this phenomenon in the scientific literature over 100 years ago. There is now little reasonable doubt that the IgE-dependent activation of mast cells and basophils is the key event underlying most examples of allergen-induced anaphylaxis in humans [3-5]. IgE binds to the high-affinity IgE receptor, FcsRI, expressed on the... [Pg.45]

SHIP SH2 domain binds to the phosphorylated mM (p-ITIM) of other inhibitory co-receptors (gp49Bl) (Kuroiwa etal, 1998) and to the p-ITIM-like motif of the adhesion receptor, PECAM-1 (Pumphrey et al., 1999), furthermore, in vitro it binds to the phosphorylated immimoreceptor tyrosine based activation motifs (p-TTAM) within the p and y subunits of the high affinity IgE receptor (Kimura et al. 1997)), and the zeta chain of T cell receptor (Osborne et al, 1996). However, in vivo coprecipitation of these molecules was not observed. [Pg.313]

Omalizumab is a monoclonal antibody that selectively binds to human IgE, inhibiting the binding of IgE to the high-affinity IgE receptor on the surface of mast cells and basophils, and limiting the degree of release of mediators of the allergic response. It is indicated in the treatment of moderate to severe persistent asthma in patients who have a positive skin test or in vitro reactivity to a perennial aero-allergen and whose symptoms are inadequately controlled with inhaled corticosteroids. [Pg.514]
