Health education surveillance

SARA Superfund Amendments and Reauthorization Act. In 1986, SARA amended the CERCLA and expanded the health-related responsibilities of ATSDR. CERCLA and SARA direct ATSDR to look into the health effects from substance exposures at hazardous waste sites and to perform activities including health education, health studies, surveillance, health consultations, and toxicological prohles... 

The Multidisciplinary Approach. At one time, the company physician and occupational health nurse bore the primary responsibility for the health and safety of workers in their workplace. Although that physician-nurse team has expanded to include other disciplines, clinical services are stiU an important part of occupational health and safety programs. Some of the services provided by health care professionals include preemployment physicals, health assessments, and health surveillance through intermittent medical examinations and basic laboratory testing. Health education and counsehng usually falls to occupational health professionals, as do treatment, rehabilitation, and referral.

OA is a prevalent disease in the workplace with significant impact on health and quality of life. Management of OA is based on a multidisciplinary approach including methods to identify allergens, use of appropriate exposure control methods, education of the workforce and surveillance (air levels and medical). 

A concentration of chemicals at which consideration of action to interdict/prevent exposure occurs, such as surveillance, research, health studies, community education, physician education, or exposure investigations. Alternatively, based on the evaluation by the health assessor, none of these actions may be necessary. 

The application of ergonomics in a system that includes the following components health and risk factor (job or worksite) surveillance, job analysis and design (hazard prevention and control), medical management, and education and training. 

War and preparation for war have enormous adverse impacts on humans and then-environment. Public health approaches can be utilized to address these problems, including surveillance and documentation, education and awareness-raising, and advocacy for effective policies and programs.
