Saws, hand, jig-saw, or circular saws may be needed for trimming thicker moldings, both in TSs and TPs, where the trim is more than I mm thick. Precautions must be taken to protect workers against dust, with adequate extraction systems and wearing of masks. 

In a further application of MI-SPE, theophylline could be separated from the structurally related caffeine by combining the specific extraction with pulsed elution, resulting in sharp baseline-separated peaks, which on the other hand was not possible when a theophylline imprinted polymer was used as stationary phase for HPLC. A detection limit of 120 ng mb1 was obtained, corresponding to a mass detection limit of only 2.4 ng [45]. This combination of techniques was also used for the determination of nicotine in tobacco. Nicotine is the main alkaloid in tobacco and is the focus of intensive HPLC or GC analyses due to its health risk to active and passive consumers. However, HPLC- and GC-techniques are time-consuming as well as expensive, due to the necessary pre-purification steps required because the sample matrices typically contain many other organic compounds besides nicotine. However, a simple pre-concentration step based on MI-SPE did allow faster determination of nicotine in tobacco samples. Mullett et al. obtained a detection limit of 1.8 jig ml 1 and a mass detection limit of 8.45 ng [95]. All these examples demonstrate the high potential of MI-SPE to become a broadly applicable sample pre-purification tool. 

On the other hand, there was no decrease in current from the medium in the absence of AF-2. The current decrease became larger with increasing AF-2 concentration. The minimum measurable concentration of AF-2 was 0.001 jig ml"1. The current decrease was reproducible...

The TMV is composed of about 2100 identical protein subunits, each of molecular weight - 18,000. These self-assemble to form a right-handed helix with 16 V3 subunits per turn. The final rod measures 3000 A in length and 180 A in diameter. A single strand of RNA follows the basic turns of the helix from the inside, at a radial distance of 40 A from the central axis, with three nucleotides binding to each protein subunit. Assembly is initiated by a preformed protein disk that serves as a sort of jig upon which the first few turns of the viral helix can assemble to reach sufficient size to be stable. The layout of an assembly work-place should reflect this by placing the product to be assembled in a central area within class 3 reach of both arms. The use of jigs for stable support of the product is advised. This relieves one of the operator s hand from static holding stress. 

A routing sheet for the BOM example above is given below in Table 9.2. The path that the part is to follow is given in the left hand column. In this example there are five operations needed. The first and second operations occur at work center 100. The estimated time needed for both set-up and processing is given. The first step is to unpack the component and the second is to clean and inspect it. The third operation is to put 3 of the parts into a jig and to weld them together. The fourth operation is to inspect the component again. The fifth operation is to drill 3 holes.
