Innovators. Thinks in risky, unexpected ways. Little respect for past custom - seen as irrelevant. Trades off detail for over-view. Questions definition of problem. Often challenges the rules solves problems despite rule. Can appear insensitive, even abrasive, to group cohesion. Does things differently. Provides dynamics for radical change. 

Pride (but not Arrogance)—Realistic pride in oneself and in the work group strengthens group cohesiveness and individual self-confidence and fosters a can-do attitude toward innovation and technical challenges.

Group cohesion is strongly linked to shared beliefs and values, and intensity of normative pressures to conform (Trice and Beyer 1993). Within the safety literature considerable attention has been devoted to safety climate (e.g., Bosak et al. 2013), which also has strong links to shared beliefs and values, but specific to safety issues, and also has a normative influence on group or team member s behavior. The factors which define safety climate are reasonably well understood (e.g., Clarke 2006), and it is also clear that a strong safety climate is positively associated...

Social capital is evaluated through the analysis of the product of the total number of members of the same group (network) and the following coefficients group cohesion, the scope of trust within the network, and the inverse of the coefficient of the range of trust of persons outside the network. 

Injunction on safety is not made to equilibrate the communication relationship between transmitter and receiver. It demonstrates power relationships and a social order in which we are all involved. This struggle for power and influence on the receiver is part of injunction authoritarian character. Not following the path is a potential threat toward the social group cohesion.

My main point here is that gossip can be good—if it is positive. When we talk about the success of others in behavior-specific terms, we begin a cycle of positive communication that can support desired behavior. It also helps to build an internal script for self-motivation. We also set an example for the kind of inter- and intrapersonal conversations that increase self-esteem, empowerment, and group cohesion. As explained in Section 5 of this Handbook, these are the very person states that increase actively caring behaviors and cultivate the achievement of a Total Safety Culture.
