Graphics devices discussion

A graphical device, the "thermodynamic compass," for identifying the so-called natural choices of dependent variables and for generating thermodynamic relations without derivation. With the rules given in the discussion, this graph encodes all the Maxwell relations of thermodynamics. [Pg.41]

Two of the seven tools of quality discussed above are not illustrated. These are the scatter diagram and the check sheet. The scatter diagram is a graphic technique to analyze the relationship between two variations and the check sheet is a simple data-recording device. The check sheet is custom designed by the user, which facilitates interpretation of the results. Most Biomedical Equipment Technicians use the check sheet on a daily basis when performing preventive maintenance, calibration, or electrical safety checks. [Pg.814]

Some special memory structures do not follow the general accessing scheme of using an address. Two of the most frequently used are content addressable memory (CAM), and first-in-first-out (FIFO) memory. Another type of memory device, which accepts multiple addresses and produces several results at different ports, is called multiport memory. There is also a type of memory that can be written in parallel, but is read serially. It is referred to as video RAM or VDRAM since they are used primarily in graphic display applications. We will discuss these in more detail later. [Pg.756]

Many modern instruments use computers and computer monitors as readout devices. Data manipulation, data processing, and formatting for graphical display and printing can all be done with the computer. Computer-based instruments arc discussed in detail in Section 4D. [Pg.36]

Then, the tutorial shows how these concepts can be incorporated in authoring environments for multi-device interfaces and discuss how to address a variety of platforms with different modalities (such as graphical and vocal interfaces, digital TV, tilt-based interaction,. ..). Examples of such tools will be discussed, along with a demo of one of them (Multimodal TERESA [2]), which is publicly available and developed by the instructor s group. [Pg.703]
