As stated before, volatile carbon % is considered to be one of the most important parameters of hydroliquefaction. Also a fairly good linear relationship between the volatile carbon % in coal and low temperature tar yield from coal is found in Morwell brown coals, based on the data from the State Electricity Commission of Victoria (SECV) in Australia, as shown in Fig.9 Therefore, the low temperature tar yield is also estimated to be an important parameter. In addition, the color tone of brown coal (lithotypes) is shown in this figure. From this figure, it is observed that both volatile carbon % and low temperature tar yield are in a fairly good relation to the color tone of brown coal. Thus, as proposed by the Australian researchers, the color tone of brown coal is considered to be an important parameter. 

In terms of patterns of inheritance, an interesting situation arises in conditions that involve a gene situated on the X chromosome. Women have two copies of the X chromosome, but men have an X and a smaller Y. A mutation on the X chromosome could therefore be recessive in a woman, but if she passes on her defective chromosome to her son he has no second, good copy and therefore shows a disease that was hidden in his mother. Examples include classic haemophilia, the bloodclotting disease seen, for example, in a number of the descendants of Queen Victoria, who herself, being only a carrier, lived to a ripe and healthy old age. Another example is G6P dehydrogenase deficiency, which we met in Topic 29.

The ice-flow direction is indicated by grooved and striated bedrock surfaces at the base of the Pagoda Tillite and by the orientation of the long axes of clasts. Lindsay (1970a) reported an ice-flow direction of 168 24 (southeast) which is in good agreement with the ice-flow direction of 155 reported by Frakes et al. (1968) for the Darwin Tillite in the Darwin Mountains of southern Victoria Land. 

Developed by Shilesh Jani, Victoria Good, and coworkers at Smith Nephew, XLPE is the most recent highly crosslinked UHMWPE to be introduced into the U.S. orthopedic market for THA. XLPE is a remelted, highly crosslinked UHMWPE with a total dose of 100 kGy (Figure 15.1). Smith Nephew did not provide a packaged example of their product to be included in this review.

But we can always speculate that if we had good screening tools, then a relicensing process would be appropriate. It appears that even in that case, there is no justification for retesting. Torpey (1986) used crash data from Victoria, Australia, and applied some cost estimates to calculate the benefit-to-cost ratios for vision testing and medical examinations. For her calculations she assumed that (1) impaired vision and medical conditions are responsible for...

Victoria SA makes fantastically good cakes from basic ingredients like flour, water and cherries. Demand for Victoria sponge cakes comes from two sources. Some big retailers place their order with the firm two days in advance, while other customers arrive at Victoria s own shops without prior warning and select from cakes that are on display. This means that some cakes are made in line with orders, whilst a forecast is also required to predict day-by-day demand. 

Developed by Shilesh Jani, Victoria Good, and cowoikers at Smith Nephew, XLPE was introduced into the US orthopedic market for I llA in 2001. XLPE used in the hip is produced from ram extruded GUR 1050, gamma irradiated with a dose of 100 kGy, and remelted (Eigure 20.1). XLPE is available in the Reflection and R3 acetabular cup designs. 

Although not discussed in this paper, other fission product models have been used for correlation of our test data. The FASTGRASS cod developed by Rest at Argoime National Laboratory, is a detailed model which provided good agreement with data firom earlier tests in our HI series. The VICTORIA Model, which was developed at Sandia National Laboratories (SNL) and has been reported by Bbder et aL, includes a comprehensive library of possible chemical compounds and reactions. Work at SNL and other laboratories has shown VICTORIA to be similarly applicable for the comparison of data from our VI tests.
