A glossary of symbols and abbreviations used in this chapter is found at the end of the text (p. 336). 

Table 1 shows some symbols and abbreviations commonly used in analytical chemistry Table 5 is a glossary of abbreviations used in this particular text. Table 2 shows some of the alternative methods for expressing the values of physical quantities and the relationship to the value in SI units.

Entries in the Encyclopedia are in alphabetic sequence. Cross-references appear in small capitals at the ends of the articles to help readers locate related discussions. Articles range from brief, but concise, definitions to extensive overviews that treat key concepts in larger contexts. A fist of common abbreviations and symbols, and a list of the known elements, as well as a modern version of the periodic table are included in the For Your Reference section at the beginning of each volume. A glossary and a comprehensive index appear at the end of each volume. Contributors are listed alphabetically, together with their academic and professional affiliations, at the beginning of each volume. 

In Mathematica reactants need to named with words starting with lower case letters because words starting with capital letters refer to operations. Also the names of reactants need to be as short as convenient and cannot involve spaces, subscripts, superscripts, hyphens, dots or other symbols that are Mathematica operations. Therefore, ATP is referred to as atp both in the text and in computer programs. Most of these abbreviated names will be recognized immediately, but a glossary of names is provided in the Appendix. 

A glossary of the symbols, acronyms and other abbreviations used, a table of the molecular weights of the repeat units of a large number of polymers, and an extensive subject index, will be provided at the end of the book.
