Glass, types

The heat capacity of thiazole was determined by adiabatic calorimetry from 5 to 340 K by Goursot and Westrum (295,296). A glass-type transition occurs between 145 and 175°K. Melting occurs at 239.53°K (-33-62°C) with an enthalpy increment of 2292 cal mole and an entropy increment of 9-57 cal mole °K . Table 1-44 summarizes the variations as a function of temperature of the most important thermodynamic properties of thiazole molar heat capacity Cp, standard entropy S°, and Gibbs function - G°-H" )IT. [Pg.86]

In the hydraulic transport of solids through steel pipelines, inhibitors of the sodium-zinc-phosphate glass type have been shown" to be effective. In the case of coal slurries the polyphosphate type was rejected because the de-oxygenating action of the coal lowered the inhibitor effectiveness. Hexavalent chromium compounds at 20 p.p.m. were more effective". ... [Pg.797]

There are a great number of potential glasses and some can be extremely complex. All contain silica and alumina and an alkaline earth or rare earth oxide or fluoride. The two essential glass types are SiOj-AljOg-CaO and SiOj-AljOg-CaFj, from which all others are derived. [Pg.118]

Wilson Kent, 1970). The release of each glass species is roughly governed by the amount contained in the glass and so varies with glass type (Table 5.5). [Pg.122]

Two other important points have to be stressed. The first is that above Tc = 210 K, T2 does not depend on the frequency offset so that the nanocluster dynamics is similar in different parts of the crystal. Below Tc, on the other hand, T2 depends on the frequency offset and the nanocluster dynamics is different in different parts of the crystal, as expected for a two-component system consisting of ferroelectric regions and a spherical glass-type matrix. The second point is that in the FC T2 data around 140-150 K, a second flat T2... [Pg.65]

Industrial fermentors, as well as pipings, pipe fittings, and valves, and all parts that come into contact with the culture media and sterilized air are usually constructed from stainless steel. All ofthe inside surfaces should be smooth and easily polished in order to help maintain aseptic conditions. All fermentors (other than the glass type) must incorporate glass windows for visual observation. Naturally, all fermentors should have a variety of fluid inlets and outlets, as well as ports for sampling and instrument insertion. Live steam is often used to sterilize the inside surfaces of the fermentor, pipings, fittings, and valves. [Pg.193]
