There are several designs of electrode boiler for hot water and steam generation, each with specifically designed mechanisms for producing and controlling the output of HW or steam, and each with its own specific requirements for water treatment. A failure to meet these requirements quickly results in boiler shutdown and perhaps blown fuses. However, under these circumstances, neither the boiler nor the electrodes typically suffer permanent damage and the condition usually can be quickly rectified.
