Ganglion cyst

If you re a runner, you really don t want this to happen to you. The MRI of this left knee shows the presence of a ganglion cyst. 

The strain index has not been developed to predict increased risk for distal upper-extremity disorders to uncertain etiology or relationship to work. Examples include ganglion cysts, osteoarthritis, avascular necrosis of carpal bones, and ulnar nerve entrapment at the elbow. 

Ganglion Cysts This disorder is the enlargement of a nerve cell or ganglion. The disorder often appears with other cumulative trauma disorders. 

Ganglion cysts Bumps that appear on the wrist full of synovial fluid (joint fluid). Usually occurs from excessive and repetitive use of wrist and hands. Surgical removal of cysts can be required as treatment.

A variety of space-occupying lesions can be encountered within the carpal tunnel. Ganglion cysts appear as lobulated anechoic masses with well-defined margins (Fig. 10.55). They usually arise in the deep portion of the tunnel from the wrist joints and dislocate both... 

The most frequent soft-tissue masses of the hand and fingers are ganglion cysts, the giant cell tumor of the tendon sheath and lipomas (Garcia and Bianchi 2001 Seboun et al. 1989). Other lesions may present as pseudomasses, including partial tendon tears that lead to a fusiform hypoechoic swelling of the tendon with loss of the fibrillar echotexture.
