Friction Pendulum Test Apparatus

The Bureau of Mines impact apparatus indicates TMETN is as sensitive as nitroglycerin, with a drop height of four centimeters for a two kilogram weight. The five second explosion temperature test value is 235°C and TMETN detonates with both the metal and fiber shoe in the pendulum friction test. [Pg.113]

HMX has similar sensitivity to impact and friction as RDX. The Bureau of Mines impact apparatus with two kilogram weight measures 32 centimeters for a 20 milligram sample. In the pendulum friction test, HMX explodes with the steel shoe but is unaffected by the fiber shoe. Table 8-14 shows the gap test results for HMX. [Pg.116]

This test is conducted on coarse aggregates that are used for surfacing mixes. The PSV test determines the resistance of the coarse aggregate to the polishing action of vehicle tyres. The test consists of two parts in the first part, test specimens are subjected to a polishing action in an accelerated polishing machine. In the second part of the test, the state of polish reached by each specimen is measured using the Pendulum tester apparatus. The PSV is then calculated from the friction determinations. [Pg.69]

The British pendulum was designed with the aim of providing a low-cost and portable apparatus for stationary measurements of slip/skid resistance of a surface in the field or in the laboratory. This test method provides a measure of frictional property, micro-texture in particular, of surfaces and may be used to determine the relative effects of various polishing processes on materials or material combinations. [Pg.728]
