A clean and reagent-free generation of highly strained cycloalkynes from bi-3//-diazirin-3-yls has been described.44 A new synthesis of alkynes has been achieved by... [Pg.313]

The clean, precise, and reversible modification of surfaces represents an important opportunity to expand the application range of self-assembly. In particular, the thermodynamic control and reversibility of CSA can be exploited for the error-free generation of three-dimensional architectures directly on surfaces. [Pg.257]

All P ylides for Wittig reactions are obtained by deprotonation of phosphonium salts. Depending on whether one wants to prepare a nonstabilized, a semistabilized, or a stabilized ylide, certain bases are especially suitable (see Table 11.1 an unusual, i.e., base-free, generation of ylides is described in Side Note 11.1). In stereogenic Wittig reactions with aldehydes, P ylides exhibit characteristic stereoselectivities. These depend mainly on whether the ylide involved is nonstabilized, semistabilized, or stabilized. This can also be seen in Table 11.1. [Pg.459]

Any civilization based on TDBT tends to overexploit natural resources, and generate pollution and waste during material processing and product manufacturing. MNT will render that obsolete. MNT processes will be pollution-free, generate fewer wastes and recycle 100% of raw materials [32], controlling waste and pollution. In addition, environmental remediation can proceed by nature and MNT. [Pg.217]

Trouble-free generation of steam requires water of high quality. The characteristics of boiler feed water and methods for its production are covered below in Section 12.4.3.3. This water is fed to the boiler(s) on demand. The simplest way to control the addition of water is from a level instrument in the steam drum. This iqrproach has a certain amount of inherent instability. When (cold) water is added to the drum in response to a demand from the level controller, some of the bubbles present in the liquid will collapse. Hie level will go down, and the controller will call for even more water. In the opposite case, when the level rises and the water flow is reduced, more bubbles will form and the level will increase, causing the controller to call for less water. The process itself is supplying positive feedback. [Pg.1172]

In order to introduce a combinatorial element into this setting, we need to choose a basis (i.e., a set of free generators) for each C . When this is done, we say that we have chosen a basis i = (J S7 for the entire chain complex C. We write (C, 1 ) to denote a chain complex with a basis. A free chain complex with a basis is the main object of study of algebraic Morse theory. [Pg.201]

The higher the level i, the larger the group of reaction mechanisms (with more free generators), which implies a richer family of reaction mechanisms. Level t is a simple measure of the complexity of the family of reaction mechanisms. At low energies, for example below and at Amin> no fundamental group exists there are no chemical species, hence no reactions occur. Immediately above the value that... [Pg.34]

Further selected examples of diastereoselective aldol reactions between lithium enolates and chiral aldehydes are given in Eqs. (42) [171], (43) [172], and (44) [173]. In the last example, the salt-free generation of the lithium enolate was occasionally found to be crucial to stereoselectivity [174]. [Pg.49]

The free generated radicals can undergo several reactions, such as combination to form crosslinks [164,169], chain scission and recombination or disproportionation, and elimination with the formation of double bonds [170]. In the presence of vinyl monomers, the free radical centers can initiate graft copolymerization [177]. [Pg.187]

Confirmation of the fact that TCN zones of supercritical size may serve as sources of shock-free generation of combustion instability or explosion, requires thorough parametric analysis. First of all, processes in a region between the combustion wave front and the combustion surface in ducts and tubes are to be considered. Besides, it is reasonable to investigate TCN zones near confining surfaces. [Pg.204]
