Once studies have received IND approval, further protocols can be added with little trouble. Of course, the IND lays down responsibilities for sponsors, which include minimum reporting times for adverse events and completion of qualification forms for investigators, etc. These steps add to the administrative load of the clinical drug development process. It is generally thought that it would be a bold company that submitted a NDA to the FDA without the FDA s prior involvement via an IND. However, this has been done successfully in the past and will probably occur again. [Pg.458]

Figure 16-4 provides an excellent form for investigating and recording incidents. [Pg.273]

A rather different approach is to investigate possible adsorption isotherm forms for use with Eq. X-43. As is discussed more fully in Section XVII-7, in about 1914 Polanyi proposed that adsorption be treated as a compression of a vapor in the potential held U x) of the solid with sufficient compression, condensation to liquid adsorbate would occur. If Uq(x) denotes the held necessary for this, then... [Pg.377]

Chloroprene (2-chloro-1,3-butadiene), [126-99-8] was first obtained as a by-product from tbe synthesis of divinylacetylene (1). Wben a mbbery polymer was found to form spontaneously, investigations were begun tbat prompdy defined tbe two methods of synthesis that have since been the basis of commercial production (2), and the first successbil synthetic elastomer. Neoprene, or DuPrene as it was first called, was introduced in 1932. Production of chloroprene today is completely dependent on the production of the polymer. The only other use accounting for significant volume is the synthesis of 2,3-dichloro-l,3-butadiene, which is used as a monomer in selected copolymerizations with chloroprene. [Pg.37]

As early as 1895, Knorr realized that three types of derivatives could be formed for this type of compound, corresponding to the three tautomeric structures. Other early investigators assigned an 0X0 structure to these compounds on the basis of tenuous chemical evidence, while still others discussed the tautomerism without reaching any definite conclusions. ... [Pg.40]

For example, by retaining only one term which differs from x we derive from (2.27) > (x) = x + xy xi. The solution of this equation represents the different planar planted trees with n nodes which have only vertices of degrees 1 and 3. Cayley already established this result, 2. Cf. F. Levi, Christiaan Huygens, 2 (1922), pp. 307-314, No. 5, further A. Errera, Mdimoires de I Acad mie royale de Belgique 11, 1931, pp. 1-26, No. 15-16. Both contain (2.28) in different form and investigations of planar free trees. [Pg.46]

The palladium was in the form of a sponge for investigations in the temperature range +40° to —40°C, and in the form of wire for higher temperatures. The samples were activated by an oxidation-reduction procedure. It seems likely that Scholten and Konvalinka studied the effect of... [Pg.256]

A Form 1572 is used for investigators to summarise their educational qualifications and experience, and to make a required formal declaration as to their commitment to conduct the study according to the protocol, GCP and the regulations. The sponsor should also collect financial disclosure information from the investigators at this stage, although formal declarations on Form 3455 are not required until the submission of a marketing authorisation application. [Pg.89]

Comprehensive physicochemical characterization of any raw material is a crucial and multi-phased requirement for the selection and validation of that matter as a constituent of a product or part of the product development process (Morris et al., 1998). Such demand is especially important in the pharmaceutical industry because of the presence of several compounds assembled in a formulation, such as active substances and excipients, which highlights the importance of compatibility among them. Besides, variations in raw materials due to different sources, periods of extraction and various environmental factors may lead to failures in production and/or in the dosage form performance (Morris et al., 1998). Additionally, economic issues are also related to the need for investigating the physicochemical characteristics of raw materials since those features may determine the most adequate and low-cost material for specific procedures and dosage forms. [Pg.65]

A smaller class of type II alloys of II-VI binaries also exists, including the (CdS) ,(ZnSe)i (CdS) ,(ZnTe)i (CdSe) ,(ZnSe)i (CdS) ,(CdTe)i-. (CdSe)x(CdTe)i i , and (CdS) c(ZnS)i i systems, which transform at some critical composition from the W to the ZB structure. Importantly, the transition temperatures are usually well below those required to attain a thermodynamically stable wurtzite form for the binary constituents (e.g., 700-800 °C for pure CdS and > 1,020 "C for pure ZnS). The type 11 pseudobinary CdxZni jcSe is of considerable interest in thin film form for the development of tandem solar cells as well as for the fabrication of superlattices and phosphor materials for monitors. The CdSe Tei-x alloy is one of the most investigated semiconductors in photoelectrochemical applications. [Pg.47]
