Flammable liquids storage amounts

Water mist systems are intended for rapid suppression of fires using water discharged into completely enclosed limited volume spaces. Water mist systems are desirable for spaces where the amount of water that can be stored or that can be discharged is limited. In addition, their application and effectiveness for flammable liquid storage facilities and electrical equipment spaces continues to be investigated with optimistic results. Water mist systems are also used for gas turbine enclosure protection. [Pg.207]

DISPOSAL AND STORAGE METHODS absorb in dry earth or sand and place in a sanitary landfill atomize large amounts in a suitable combustion chamber outside storage preferred inside storage should be in a standard flammable liquids storage room or cabinet. [Pg.479]

In the event of a leak or break in any storage tank or piping the flap valve will prevent the loss of valuable tank contents and allow for the recovery of the tank contents retained within the diked area. It will also prevent any large amounts of hazardous and flammable liquids from entering the sewer system, which would create the possibility of a hazardous fire condition should the tank contents be of a volatile nature. [Pg.308]

Many regulations found in OSHA standards include features that will minimize the scope and impact of an emergency such as a fire. For example, restrictions in 1910.106 on container sizes of flammable liquids and the amounts of these materials that are permitted to be stored outside flammable material storage cabinets are designed to limit the amount of fuel available to a fire and to extend the time before the material could become involved. [Pg.49]

The storage arrangements for smaller amounts of flammable substances and LPG will vary dependent upon the processes for which they are being used. All containers that are to be used to store flammable liquids should be designed and constructed to meet the standard of being suitable for the purpose. [Pg.153]
