Fit factor

Finally, a constraint analysis has been developed to screen new opportunities (57). This analysis separately evaluates intrinsic business attractiveness factors and the fit factors required for commercial success. 

Therefore, the constant a is regarded not as a physical parameter that can be determined in independent ways but as a fitting factor which in each case is picked so that Eq. (7.43) will give the best agreement with the experimental data. The equation is thus converted from one theoretically fonnded to a semiempirical one. In a number of cases good agreement with experiment can be attained up to concentrations of 0.1 M with valnes of a = 0.3 to 0.4mn (Fig. 7.4, curve lb). 

The analysis is performed for the calculations with rrot=0 K for the CH3C1 reactant, so that the angular momentum distribution for the complex P(j) is the distribution of orbital angular momentum for complex formation P(i). This latter distribution is given in ref. 37. Jm , the quantum number for j, varies from 282 for Enl = 0.5 kcal/mol to 357 for rel = 3.0 kcal/mol. The term k iEJ) in equation 24 is written as k (.EJ)=k Ejyf E), where k EJ) is the classical RRKM rate constant with the CH3C1 intramolecular modes inactive and / ( ) is treated as a fitting factor.

On the basis of the results obtained, an optimized procedure was designed which was intended to maximize both the coating process efficiencies and ensure that the fit factor values were in excess of 70. 

Fit Factor (FF) The FF is the protection for a particular individual wearing a specific respirator. The FF must be measured using quantitative fit testing methods. 

Protection Factor (PF) The ratio of contaminant concentration outside of the respirator facepiece to that inside. It is taken as an indication of fit. PF values are established by manufacturers for specific types of respirators and are indicators only. Actual protection will depend on how a specific respirator fits a specific individual. Refer also to Fit Factor.

Although the biologieal activities of many alkaloids have not yet been studied and their ecological functions remain to be elucidated or proved, we can nevertheless safely say that alkaloids are neither waste nor functionless molecules, but rather they are important fitness factors, probably mostly antiherbivore compounds. Since Nature obviously favored multitasking, additional activities, such as allelopathic or antimicrobial activities, are plausible. For quinolizidine and pyrrolizidine alkaloids, these multiple functions are already well documented (Tables 1-X). 

In the forward search, all of die ions in both the library spectrum and the unknown specdiun are used in the calculation of the fit factor, while in the reverse search only the ions in the library specdiun are used in this calculation. Forward searches work well only for pure compounds, while die reverse search is admirably suited for dealing widi die composite spectra fiom mixtures. 

The calculation of a fit factor or a similarity based on peak areas can also be done using other expressions. For example, a similarity index SI can be calculated using the ratios of the peak areas, which are taken as... 

Prediction 1. Factor analysis of reliable fitness measures obtained from a large representative sample of individuals from any wild species will reveal a general fitness factor, an JF factor, analogous to the g factor in psychometrics. This f factor will account for a substantial proportion of between-individual variance in the fitness measures, and will prove moderately heritable under normal ranges of environmental conditions.
