The IS Breather Box is a portabie Grade-D filtration system designed to provide breathing air for one to eight workers. 

Variable-Volume Filter Presses These membrane filter presses are covered in the section on filtration. Two designs are used for the presses (1) the typical variable-volume filter press has a normal vertical leaf design (2) other presses, such as those provided by Filtra-Systems and Larox, are designed with horizontally arranged leaves. 

Performance maps These are performanee maps based on design or initial tests (base lines) of the various maehinery parameters. These maps, for example present how power output varies with ambient eonditions, or with properties of the fuel, or the eondition of the filtration system or how elose to the surge line a eompressor is operating. On these maps, the present value is displayed, thus allowing the operator to determine the degradation in performanee oeeur-ring in the units. 

Prior to construction of the Ft. Eustis pest control facility, TRADOC requested the U.S. Army Medical Bioengineering Research and Development Laboratory (USAMBRDL) to investigate the feasibility of using an activated carbon filtration/absorption system to treat the pesticide-laden wastewater. The final system design was to 1) not be manpower intensive 2) not require extensive analytical monitoring, and 3) be compatible with both the types and quantities of pesticide wastes produced by a typical pest control facilty. The initial research was funded jointly by EPA and TRADOC. 

Regarding the GMPs, air-handling systems are designed with the supply of outside air, moving on to the filtration systems that will be used, determining where positive and negative air pressures are required and whether to recirculate or exhaust spent 100% air, and finally to dust collection and exhaust systems. 

Whereas shear is not a problem in chromatography, there is a greater chance for it to occur during filtration. When the scale is changed in filtration, shear can lead to degraded product. Most of the shear effects occur due to system design at sites such as valves, elbows, and ports [29],... 

An integrated water-treatment system designed to use different water sources and different treatment processes, including membrane processes, has been realized in Temeuzen (The Netherlands) [15]. Raw-water sources and treatments include seawater and integrated membrane system to produce demineralized water fresh water, and ion exchange to produce demineralized water effluent industrial wastewater-treatment plant (WWTP) and media filtration to produce cooling tower supply water. 

The second condition is a high-temperature test (HTT) using the same POHCs designated for the low-temperature test, plus ethylene glycol and 21 metal oxides to determine metal emissions. The third condition is an HTT using the pollution abatement system filtration system (PFS). Both HTT conditions use the same surrogates and additives, but additional metal oxides are fed in this third condition test to determine the metal removal efficiency of the PFS.
