Filtration high temperature

PBI is being marketed as a replacement for asbestos and as a high temperature filtration fabric with exceUent textile apparel properties. The synthesis of whoUy aromatic polybenzimidazoles with improved thermal stabUities was reported in 1961 (12). The Non-MetaUic Materials and Manufacturing Technology Division of the U.S. Air Force Materials Laboratory, Wright-Patterson Air Force Base, awarded a contract to the Narmco Research and Development Division of the Whittaker Corp. for development of these materials into high temperature adhesives and laminates. [Pg.67]

A number of synthetic polymers having the abHity to control filtration rates at high temperature and in the presence of calcium and magnesium have also been developed (88). Such materials include vinyl sulfonate—vinyl amide copolymers (89,90), a copolymer of AMPS and A/,A/-dialkyl (meth) acrylamide (91) and a sulfonated hydroxylated polymer (92). AppHcation levels for these materials range from 5 to 18 kg/m (2—6 lb /bbl). Sulfonated asphalt is also used for high temperature filtration control. [Pg.181]

Flexible metallic media are especially suitable for handling corrosive liquors and for high-temperature filtration. They have good durability and are inert to physical changes. Metallic media are fabricated in the form of screens, wire windings, or woven fabrics of steel, copper, bronze, nickel and different alloys. Perforated sheets and screens are used for coarse separation, as supports for filter cloths or as... [Pg.129]

Filtration. The API filtration test for oil-base muds usually gives an all-oil filtrate. The test may not indicate downhole filtration, especially in viscous oils. The alternative high-temperature-high-pressure (HT-HP) filtration test will generally indicate a pending mud problem by amount of fluid loss or water in the filtrate. [Pg.658]

A type of high-temperature operation, ion-exchange plant. It can remove contaminants from condensate by both exchange and filtration mechanisms. [Pg.726]

There is another procedure suitable for oil-based muds under high-pressure and high-temperature conditions. Filtration is performed at 100 psi (7 MPa) and temperatures of 93° C (200° F). [Pg.32]

In situ NMR measurements can be made in conjunction with down-hole fluid sampling [5, 6]. The NMR relaxation time and diffusivity can be measured under high-temperature, high-pressure reservoir conditions without loss of dissolved gases due to pressure depletion. In cases when the fluids may be contaminated by invasion of the filtrate from oil-based drilling fluids, the NMR analysis can determine when the fluid composition is approaching that of the formation [5, 6]. [Pg.323]

The data from these first two batch tests indicated that poly(lignin-g-(l- amidoethylene)) hag properties which make it a potentially effective drilling mud additive. The tests show that poly(lignin-g-(l-amidoethylene)) and its hydrolyzed derivatives act as a high temperature thinner and as a filtrate control agent. The... [Pg.201]
