Sir Francis Bacon s foster father. Sir Nicholas Bacon, was responsible for the appointment of a prominent Family of Love personage, Robert Seale to court office. The Bacon and Seale families both kept country houses at St Albans. Given these close ties, it is not surprising that Sir Francis Bacon was to use the Family s s5mibolism of resurrection on earth in the Knights Rose Croix ceremony of St George.

The Family of Love or Houses of Love, a term also used recently by the Children of God cult, was formerly a mystery school or fellowship of scholarly adepts dedicated to preserve Mystery truths.One of its most enthusiastic members, Christopher Plantin, was a French printer in Antwerp. He published the 1577 edition of Alicat s Emblemata, which first contained the Rosicrucians enigmatic AA emblem. 

We have seen that the Rosicrucian route leads back to Anatolia, to the Indo-Hittites and the scientific philosophies of metallurgy, alchemy, medicine and immortality. This route is relatively obscure because of the Rosicrucians traditional low profile and intentional lack of records. Over the last three thousand years, discovery of significant documents such as the Corpus Hermeticum, Picatrix and writings of the Family of Love have been rare.

Much of this work also had to be done at home, which took away precious time from our families. Their love, understanding, patience and support was indispensable for us to carry on with the seemingly endless series of chapters to be drafted, read or revised. 

There is a family of enzymes that catalyze the attachment of amino acids to then-cognate tRNAs, aminoacyl-tRNA synthetases. There is one or more of these enzymes for each of the 20 amino acids that occur commonly in proteins. Each of these enzymes recognizes (a) a specific amino acid and (b) its cognate tRNA. Imagine a soup of 20 amino acids and 20 tRNAs, one for each amino acid. For example, the aminoacyl-tRNA synthetase for, saline would specifically pick valine out of the soup and catalyze its attachment to the tRNA for valine, tRNA . Simply, we can write the product of the reaction as val-tRNA . This is a lovely example of the role of molecular recognition in a critical life process. 

In the summer of 1982, after devoting a year to her home care, he lost his wife, Mary Elma, to cancer. His marriage to Mary Elma had been such a mainstay of his life that he was committed to the institution of matrimony. Within the year he fell in love with and married Anne Parker Gill, of Swarthmore, PA, thus expanding his family to include the growing families of her two sons. Bill and Doug, to whom he devoted much time in his later years. To sum up the whole, we may safely say that he was ahke eminent as a practical chemist and mechanic, as a patriot in public, and a friend in private life, as presiding over the interests of the miner and of the farmer, and in fine as the guardian and overseer of the large family of his native poor It will not indeed be easy to find another whose talents have been at once more biilhant and more useful, who has been more admired and more loved by his country, than John Gottlieb Gahn (15). 

This section discusses personal relationships during retirement. Dr. Jeanes became an authority on dextran sources, structures, and industrial applications. She published comprehensive bibliographies on dextran, the first in 1950 and another in 1978. These were a labor of love, produced with much effort before the days of automated data retrieval.
