Factor Overload

Service factor is mentioned nowhere in the NEMA standards for lai ge machines there is no definition of it. There is no standard for temperature rise or other characteristics at the service factor overload. In fact, the standards are being changed to state that the temperature rise tables are for motors with 1.0 service factors. Neither standard synchronous nor enclosed induction motors have included service factor for several years. [Pg.124]

Ascorbic acid also forms soluble chelate complexes with iron (142—145). It seems ascorbic acid has no effect on high iron levels found in people with iron overload (146). It is well known, in fact, that ascorbic acid in the presence of iron can exhibit either prooxidant or antioxidant effects, depending on the concentration used (147). The combination of citric acid and ascorbic acid may enhance the iron load in aging populations. Hypoperfusion of skeletal muscles leads to fatigue, weakness, and exercise intolerance. Decreased perfusion of the central nervous system (CNS) is related to confusion, hallucinations, insomnia, and lethargy. Peripheral vasoconstriction due to SNS activity causes pallor, cool extremities, and cyanosis of the digits. Tachycardia is also common in these patients and may reflect increased SNS activity. Patients will often exhibit polyuria and nocturia. Polyuria is a result of increased release of natriuretic peptides caused by volume overload. Nocturia occurs due to increased renal perfusion as a consequence of reduced SNS renal vasoconstrictive effects at night. In chronic severe HF, unintentional weight loss can occur which leads to a syndrome of cardiac cachexia. This results from several factors, including loss of appetite, malabsorption due to gastrointestinal edema, elevated metabolic rate, and elevated levels of proinflammatory cytokines. [Pg.39]
