There are many different types of facility configurations in the industry. Table 1 highlights t3 ical chemicals present at a semiconductor/ integrated circuit manufacturing facility. It is not intended to be a complete or exhaustive listing. 

The most suitable pretreatment facility configuration for a given source seawater typically depends on how high the source water turbidity and silt content are above the acceptable feed water turbidity and SDI levels. Most spiral wound SWRO membrane manufacturers require membrane feed water turbidity not to exceed 1.0 Nephelometric Turbidity Units (NTU) and SDI not to exceed 4 or 5, depending on the membrane product. It is usually recommended that the feed water turbidity and SDI be less than 0.5 NTU and SDI less than 3.0, if economically practical.
