Fabrication gaskets

Overbraided hose liners are made from fine powder resins by paste extmsion, and thread-sealant tapes are produced from fine powder by calendering. Fabricated gaskets are made from granular resins and pipe liners are produced from fine powder resins. Fibers and filament forms are also available. [Pg.355]

The second type of EPM is the EPDM, which is made by polymerizing ethylene, propylene, and a small amount (3-10 mol%) of nonconjugated diolefine employing ZNCs. The side chains allow vulcanization with sulfur. They are employed in the production of appliance parts, wire and cable insulation, coated fabrics, gaskets, hoses, seals, and high-impact PP. [Pg.214]

Another important area is oriented tapes and webs which are used in the fabrication of porous fiber, fabric, tube, and sheet. These porous articles find applications for protective clothing, waterproof and weatherproof fabrics, gaskets, filter bags, and many other items. [Pg.185]

The cell head is fabricated from a 2.54-cm steel plate and has separate compartments for fluorine and hydrogen. The oudet-gas manifolds, hydrogen fluoride feed and purge lines, and electrical connections are on top of the head. The gas separation skirt is made of Monel. An insulating gasket maintains the seal between the tank and the head. The anode assembly consists of 32 carbon blades bolted onto a copper bar, each of which contains three copper conductor posts. The cathode assembly consists of three vertical, 0.6-cm parallel steep plates. The plates surround the anode assembly and are supported by three steel posts which also serve as conductors. [Pg.126]

Fine Powder Resins. Fine powder PTFE resins are extremely sensitive to shear. They must be handled gendy to avoid shear, which prevents processing. However, fine powder is suitable for the manufacture of tubing and wire insulation for which compression molding is not suitable. A paste-extmsion process may be appHed to the fabrication of tubes with diameters from fractions of a millimeter to about a meter, walls from thicknesses of 100—400 )J.m, thin rods with up to 50-mm diameters, and cable sheathing. Calendering unsintered extmded soHd rods produces thread-sealant tape and gaskets. [Pg.354]

Among the topics of the TEMA Standards are nomenclature, fabrication tolerances, inspeclion, guarantees, tubes, shells, baffles and support plates, floating heads, gaskets, tube sheets, channels, nozzles, end flanges and bolting, materi specifications, and fouhng resistances. [Pg.1065]

Tubular Tubular membranes (Fig. 22-51) are supported by a pressure vessel, iisiiallv perForated or porous. It can be as simple as a wrapped nonw oven Fabric, or as robust as a stainless-steel tube. All rim with tube-side Feed. Thev are rnainlv used For UF, with some RO applications, particularly For Food and daiiw. The primary diameters available are 12 and 25 mm. Tubes are oFten connected in series parallel bundles, gasketed or potted, are also common. [Pg.2026]

Quite often, NBR adhesives are used to bond various kinds of gasketing (cork, fibre, foam, rubber, metal) to rigid superstructures, such as aircraft. Films cast from solution are often used to fabricate honeycomb structures for aircraft. [Pg.659]

PTFE, known under the trade names Teflon and Fluon, is resistant to all chemicals, except molten alkalies and fluorine, and can be used at temperatures up to 250°C. It is a relatively weak material, but its mechanical strength can be improved by the addition of fillers (glass and carbon fibres). It is expensive and difficult to fabricate. PTFE is used extensively for gaskets and gland packings. As a coating, it is used to confer non-stick properties to surfaces, such as filter plates. It can also be used as a liner for vessels. [Pg.302]

A gasketed plate heat exchanger is usually significantly cheaper than a shell-and-tube heat exchanger for the same duty. This is especially the case if the shell-and-tube heat exchanger must be fabricated in more expensive materials such as stainless steel. [Pg.346]

Because of its excellent range of properties and reliability, poly(fluoroalkoxyphosphazene) elastomers are used as seals, gaskets, and shock mounts in demanding military, aerospace, petroleum and industrial applications. In addition, applications under development for this elastomer include fuel hoses for artlc use, coated fabrics for protective clothing, sealants, coatings and medical devices. [Pg.279]

This type of machine can be programmed to efficiently produce such items as gaskets from rubber and fabric insert sheeting. [Pg.176]

Disclosed are ethylene-vinyl acetate/ethylene-styrene interpolymer blends, which are useful in preparing foams exhibiting improved compression set resistance, dimensional stability and rebound resilience at similar foam densities than known foam systems, e.g. EVA. The crosslinked foams are particularly useful in fabricating footwear and gaskets. [Pg.52]
