Expectation management

Naturally, expectation management is a two-way process and, like mentors, mentees must be afforded an equal chance to explain what they expect from the mentoring relationship and from the mentor. Mentees and mentors should also talk about roles and duties. The mentor, for example, might benefit from pointing out that the mentee must make decisions alone and that the mentor does not bear any responsibility for these. [Pg.172]

As you will remember from our conclusions in Chapter 3, virtually all companies that contributed case studies to our book incorporated expectation management into their training sessions. If you want to ensure that your program nms as planned, then keeping with this tradition is of great importance. It is also vital to have sufficient time in the training program for this issue. [Pg.268]

EM = Expectant management RT = Radiation therapy RP = Radical prostatectomy PSA = Prostate specific antigen. [Pg.1364]

Individuals with T2b and T2c disease or a Gleason score of 7 or a PSA ranging from 10 to 20 ng/mL (10 to 20 mcg/L) are considered at intermediate risk for prostate cancer recurrence.26 Individuals with less than a 10-year expected survival may be offered expectant managment, radiation therapy, or radical prostatectomy, and those with a greater than or equal to 10-year life expectancy may be offered either radical prostatectomy or radiation therapy (Table 89-5). [Pg.1364]

Prostate cancer treatment depends on the stage, age, Gleason score, and PSA concentration. Treatment options include expectant management, radiation therapy, radical prostatectomy, hormonal therapy, and chemotherapy. [Pg.1368]

Expectant management, also known as observation or watchful waiting, involves monitoring the course of the disease and initiating treatment if disease progresses or the patient becomes symptomatic. PSA and DRE are performed every 6 months. [Pg.727]

Men with disease confined to the prostate (T or T2a), no symptoms, Gleason score of 2 to 6, or PSA of less than 10 ng/mL are at low risk for recurrence and have a high 10-year survival rate. If life expectancy is less than 10 years, options are expectant management or radiation therapy. If... [Pg.727]

The use of nifedipine during pregnancy and labor has been widely debated, although its effects on child development have not been well evaluated. In one study nifedipine did not affect the development and health of 190 children, aged 18 months, born to women with mild to moderate hypertension who had been randomized to nifedipine, given for 12-34 gestational weeks before delivery, or expectant management (45). [Pg.2520]

The treatment for an asymptomatic patient with endometriosis consists of expectant management (watchful waiting) only because therapy is not indicated unless symptoms develop. For symptomatic patients, the foundation of therapy includes medical treatment, surgical treatment, or both. To date, no studies have compared medical and surgical treatment directly as first-line therapy. Furthermore,... [Pg.1486]

The expected management safety behavior scale used by Burt et al. (2012) has 13 items, and both versions are shown in Table 9.5. Scale items were adapted from Chmiel s (2005) management safety climate scale, and from Walker and Hutton s (2006), scale measuring how management deal with safety. Burt et al. (2012) reported Cronbach s alphas for the new employee version of 0.92 and 0.88, and a value of 0.89 for the incumbent version. [Pg.131]
