European Nuclear Society (ENS) http //www.euronuclear.org/ (accessed August 20, 2010). Established in 1975, the ENS is an association of 26 nuclear societies from 25 countries. Its goals are to promote the peaceful use of nuclear energy through the promotion of science and nuclear engineering. 

According to the European Nuclear Society, as of the year 2012, there were 435 nuclear power plants operating around the world. With an installed electric net capacity of about 368 GW, these reactors were running in 31 countries. The country with the largest nuclear capacity is the United States with 104 power reactors followed by France (58), Japan (50, though by May 2012, all of these had been temporarily taken out of commission because of concern over the Fukushima Daiichi nuclear plant accident), and the Russian Federation (33). As of 2012, there were 63 nuclear power plants with a total installed capacity of 61 GW under construction in 15 countries.

An example of a journal hovering between broad and narrow spectrum is Journal of Alloys and Compounds, subtitled an interdiciplinary journal of materials science and solid-state chemistry and physics. One which is more restrictively focused is Journal of Nuclear Materials (which I edited for its first 25 years). Ceramics has a range of journals, of which the most substantial is Journal of the American Ceramic Society. Ceramics International is an example of an international journal in the field, while Journal of the European Ceramic Society is a rather unusual instance of a periodical with a continental remit. More specialised journals include Solid State Ionics Diffusion and Reactions, and a new Journal of Electroceramics, started in 1997. 

The international conferences on chemical vapour deposition are held in every two or three year intervals since 1967, sponsored primarily by the American Electrochemical Society as well as the American Nuclear Society. In parallel, since 1977, the European conferences on Chemical Vapour Deposition have been held 16 times sometimes co-sponsored by the American Electrochemical Society as well as the American Nuclear Society. The Asian conferences on chemical vapour deposition have been held 3 times. These proceedings were published with following details.
