Planning enterprise-wide

Enterprise-wide planning system for re-balancing of full-stream supply/demand... [Pg.250]

One approach for the seamless support of the entire supply chain of a company are so-called ERP systems (enterprise resource planning) [811]. The basic idea of an ERP system is that of a centralized database, which stores company-wide all relevant data concerning the business processes. This approach fails, because a monolithic ERP system cannot fulfill all conceivable requirements in general [817]. Nowadays, a typical company uses on average 50 different, mission-critical applications for the support of its business processes, as empirical studies have shown [830]. Furthermore, for economic reasons it is not feasible to replace these legacy systems by new applications [973]. [Pg.728]

Typical TRPM systems perform some of the same operational tasks as transportation administration and management systems but have the ability to plan and execute enterprise-wide pians rather than single business unit plans. Such systems, therefore, must consider inbound, outbound, and replenishment demands throughout a global supply chain network. [Pg.2064]

Marketing requirements and production plans should be coordinated on an enterprise-wide basis. Thus, multiple sourcing and routing options are considered at the time of order receipt, which allows market requirements and production plans to be coordinated on an organization-wide basis. In very advanced SCM systems, customer demand and production rates are synchronized to manage inventories globally. [Pg.2121]

Quality management This feature enables users to begin quality planning during the product design phase, create foundation for quality inspection processes and in-process control during production, and provide enterprise-wide instant access to the most current quality manual. [Pg.213]

Better techniques for enterprise-wide modehng to optimize the supply chain through planning, scheduhng, real-time optimization, and inventory control. [Pg.374]

The community must develop enterprise-wide optimization models. Using advanced planning and scheduling methods, the models must allow fast and flexible response of chemical manufacturing and distribution to fluctuations in market demands. The economic implications and societal importance of this effort could be enormous. [Pg.27]

An enterprise-wide OEMS enables a company to do on an operational basis what well-known enterprise resource planning systems enable it to do on a financial basis. It affords a clear line of sight into corporate activities, from the individual operator level up to the enterprise level. Unlike financial information systems, which track what employees, facilities, and departments are earning or spending, the operational information system tracks what they are actually doing and measures how they do it. [Pg.124]

In the construction of wide-area waste disposal facilities, JESCO is targeting small- and medium-sized enterprises and other business institutions which can commission JESCO to treat their PCB wastes and in doing so reduce their financial burden. The corporation plans to ensure the minimum treatment capacity for these facilities by having these wastes brought to the facilities in a systematic manner during the treatment period. [Pg.25]
