England current research

J. (John) F. Watts received a Ph.D. in materials science from the University of Surrey in England in 1981 and was awarded a D.Sc. in 1997 from the same university. He subsequently returned to an academic position in Adhesion Science at Surrey, where he now heads the Surface and Interface Reaction Group. Current research interests arc concerned with aspects of adhesion and polymer surface treatment, and with the applications of XPS, AES. ToF-SIMS. and SPM to those problems, He is the author of an introductory text and a software package on electron spectroscopy, and has lectured widely in Europe, the United States, and the Far East. 

Warren Johnston is an Associate Professor in the Department of History and Philosophy at Algoma University in Ontario, Canada. He has published a number of peer-reviewed articles and chapters on early modern English apocalyptic ideas. His book Revelation Restored The Apocalypse in Later Seventeenth-Century England explains the importance of apocalyptic belief to political thought and culture during the Restoration. His current research project examines National Thanksgivings and Identity in Britain from the late seventeenth century to the end of the Napoleonic wars. 

PVF-P adhesives have been used at de Havilland in Hatfield, England since 1936 for the manufacture of air screws [199]. Aero Research Ltd. of Duxford, England, which became CIBA (A.R.L.), originally developed them ([200], pp. 76-83). Currently, the Redux business and trademark belongs to the Hexcel Composites Ltd. and is applied to the original polyvinyl-phenolic alloys as well as epoxies and bismaleimide adhesives that give structural performance at even higher temperatures [201].

Clement believed iodine to be an element similar to chlorine 12), and showed it, first to J.-A.-C. Chaptal and A.-M. Ampere, and later to Sir Humphry Davy. The proof of its elementary nature was given independently by Davy in England and by Gay-Lussac in France. Dyes are catalogued and grouped under a set of rules established by the Colour Index committee, consisting of representatives from the Society of Dyers and Colourists (SDC), Bradford, England, and the American Association of Textile Chemists and Colorists (AATCC), Research Triangle Park, NC. Table 13.2 shows how over 9000 dyes are enumerated in the current Index.9 The Colour Index, now in its fourth edition, is updated periodically with newly released information and is available in book form and on CD-ROM.
