Engineering Design-Related Documents

Process product design architecture—documents the design architecture for the life cycle process products related to development (systems engineering and integration), manufacturing, verification, distribution, support, training, and disposal. Products include equipment, software, people, facilities, processes, and services integral to a specific life cycle process. 

Software engineering is an expression of a reliable development process within which to create program design, its implementation, and aU related documents. 

The HASP is the model for performing work safely and, if properly designed, will help to integrate all site- and task-related hazards and control measures. Wlien working with the DOE or the Corps of Engineers there may be additional documents that should be considered when developing a plan. Make sure that you understand all site-specific needs. 

The [design department] and [plant product engineering] ensure that the design input requirements relating to the product are identihed, documented, and their selection is reviewed to ensure adequacy. Incomplete, ambiguous, or conhicting requirements are resolved when dehn-ing these requirements. 

Computer system documentation means records that relate to system operation and maintenance, from high-level design documents to end-user manuals. Sidebar 11-1 illustrates some typical SLC documentation. In the software-engineering context, computer systems documentation is regarded as software. All regulatory provisions applicable to software are also applicable to its documentation. 

As already stated. Fig. 1.4 is a cutout of the results of a design process in chemical engineering. It solely shows the product of the process, the process itself cannot be found. So, we do not see how a manager creates the administrative configuration, how a designer synthesizes the flowsheet, how different developers annotate products in a spontaneous discussion etc. For any document or any bundle of relations between two documents there must be a corresponding subprocess for that document or bundle. 

For example, there are numerous military and defense-related systems, including administrative systems which assist in formulation of acquisition strategies and the development of relevant documents, battle strategy systems, and hardware maintenance advisors. Other successful administrative applications include a system used by the IRS for selection of audit candidate tax returns, and a credit evaluation system used by American Express. Successful systems in engineering areas include the XCON system which assists in configuration design of DEC (Digital Equipment Corporation) computer...
