The fire risk assessment will provide much of this information and it will also give an indication of the time available for the occupants of a building to reach a place of safety. In most cases, the full evacuation of a building should be achieved in the region of 2.5-3 minutes. This time will be extended where a phased/sequential procedure Is adopted. 

Clear concise arrangements should be displayed they may also be supplemented by additional information such as escape route plans in hotels and licensed premises. 

In order to ensure the safe evacuation of people in the event of fire it is not possible merely to rely on building design, adequate means of escape, fire alarms, emergency lighting, etc. In all but the smallest workplaces it will be necessary to have staff that have been trained to assist with emergency evacuation. Specifically those people responsible for fire safety within buildings and outside venues will need to consider the provision of fire wardens/marshals, crowd safety stewards, fire alarm verifiers and fire incident controllers. 

Role - the terms fire warden and fire marshai are used to describe the same roie. it is important to reaiise that fire wardens and fire marshais have two distinct roies which contribute to the safety of peopie in fire. First, they have a proactive roie that requires them to support the ongoing management of fire safety by carrying out such duties as

In some cases individuals may be unconscious or non-ambulant in which case they will need extra consideration when planning emergency evacuation procedures. In the case of secure accommodation, e.g. detention centres and prisons, the occupants of a building may wish to leave faster than the emergency procedure allows. 

However, in addition to these occupancy factors there are a number of other important aspects that influence people s behavior at the time of a fire emergency in a building, which must be considered when developing and managing an emergency evacuation procedure, including ...

Deployment - as with other key roles that assist in the emergency evacuation of people in a fire it is vital that, if the emergency evacuation procedures involve a fire alarm verifier, adequate management arrangements are made to ensure that there is at least one person available to fulfil this role at all times. 

Therefore, FLUL community should be aware of these aspects of the building, which are a threat and should practice emergency evacuation procedures. 

Finally, the participants were highly motivated to learn about proper emergency evacuation procedures. They would like to continue the emergency preparedness drills and evacuation exercises. They iso indicated that would recommend emergency preparedness to others. These findings show that although the evacuation exercises are not incorporated in the university campus practices, the participants understood the importance to continue with these kinds of safety activities. 

Example Specific site induction must include the local emergency evacuation procedure, and understanding may need to be confirmed by holding regular practice fire drills.
