Elimination of Static

Carbon fiber has been incorporated in vinyl tiles to dissipate static and is particularly useful for hospital flooring. Also, to assist dissipation of static, carpets have been manufactured containing carbon fiber in the backing material and computer casings made from a molding compound containg carbon fiber. [Pg.960]

Coating of proplnt grains with graphite, as often practiced, serves not only as an eliminator of static electricity, but also as a deterrent also ... [Pg.524]

Use Radiation source in industrial thickness gauges, elimination of static charge, treatment of eye diseases, in radio-autography to determine the uniformity of material distribution, in electronics for studying strontium oxide in vacuum tubes, activation of phosphors, source of ionizing radiation in luminous paint, cigarette density control, measuring silk density, atomic batteries, etc. [Pg.1182]

The ability of nuclear radiation to ionize gases is used in several applications. Static electricity can be eliminated through the installation of an a- or j3-source in micro-balances. Similarly, but on a much larger scale, elimination of static electricity is used in the paper, textile and paint industries. [Pg.189]

Provide for elimination of static discharge potential in flanunables. Clean ttie handling equipment to prevent dangerous reactions or contamination. [Pg.99]

The ability of SFE-FTIR to perform a variety of extraction methods is a definite advantage, especially for the study of complex mixtures containing analytes of varying solubility. For analytes which are readily solubilised in C02, direct dynamic and direct static-dynamic SFE-FTIR methods are quite successful. Elimination of the trapping process reduces both analysis time and potential analyte loss arising from... [Pg.450]

It is essential to appreciate that the pressure difference measured by. a manometer automatically eliminates the static head difference. This is shown in Figure 8.1(b). The static head pg(zi — z2) in the pipe is exactly balanced by the extra static head above the right hand limb of the manometer. Consequently, if Ah is calculated from Azm using equation 8.4, no further correction for the static head should be made. [Pg.273]

An alternative approach involves integrating out the elastic degrees of freedom located above the top layer in the simulation.76 The elimination of the degrees of freedom can be done within the context of Kubo theory, or more precisely the Zwanzig formalism, which leads to effective (potentially time-dependent) interactions between the atoms in the top layer.77-80 These effective interactions include those mediated by the degrees of freedom that have been integrated out. For periodic solids, a description in reciprocal space decouples different wave vectors q at least as far as the static properties are concerned. This description in turn implies that the computational effort also remains in the order of L2 InL, provided that use is made of the fast Fourier transform for the transformation between real and reciprocal space. The description is exact for purely harmonic solids, so that one can mimic the static contact mechanics between a purely elastic lattice and a substrate with one single layer only.81... [Pg.104]

Table 2. Elimination of cyclodienes by aquatic vertebrates following their transfer, after maximum absorption in a static system, to insecticide-free water. [Pg.44]

As previously mentioned, plant personnel were successful at mitigating the black streaks with the use of static mixers positioned inside the injection nozzle. Since the degraded resin was soft and leathery, it was easily broken into smaller particles as they passed through the mixer. Thus, the particles were not eliminated they were just reduced in size such that they did not create as many black streaks. The additional pressure and time that was required to inject the resin through the static mixers and into the mold, however, increased the cycle time to an unacceptable level. Although static mixers can be used to mitigate these types of problems, they do not eliminate the root cause of the degradation problem. [Pg.529]

The use of a helium atmosphere eliminates the static electricity problems that are often encountered in glove boxes operating under nitrogen or argon atmospheres. [Pg.315]

We have developed a multi-vessel extractor in which six or twelve samples can be analyzed in a segmented parallel fashion in three hours or less. Timing has been set up so that periods of static and dynamic extraction overlap within the individual vessels. This time overlap eliminates deadtime which would occur if the samples were extracted serially. [Pg.148]
