Element cycling conceptual cycles

One of the purposes of this book is to illuminate elements of conceptual thermodynamic cycle design. In this endeavor, the intent is to build upon and extend information previously acquired in thermodynamics. Implementation procediues and processes correspond to conceptual representations of actions and activities to carry out. Technologies are technical implementations enabling the deployment of the processes and the procediues during one ormore hfe cycle phases. Performance control and risk mitigation measures are conceptual and technical realizations of measures to implement when the asset performance exceeds the normal operational conditions. 

The conceptual approach of "storage capacity-controlling properties" forms the link between the geochemical cycles comprising driving forces such as organic matter/redox-sensitive elements and cycles of mobilizable micropollutants. This concept of coupled cycles has been designed by Salomons (1993 Fig. 10.1). 

GE joined the ALMR program with its two key elements reactor design and fuel cycle development. GE led industry partners to refine the conceptual design of the PRISM reactor. The national laboratories, led principally by ANL, tackled the fuel cycle development and waste characterization.
