Driving parameter

Now we describe metallic layer coatings, which are widely used in astronomy. Gold is slightly better at infrared wavelengths than silver. At short wavelengths aluminum is by far the best of the 3 metals (Fig. 13), but with a marked minimum around 800 nm. The driving parameter is the thermal conductivity. [Pg.333]

The driving parameters are determined by the maximum values of their distribution functions and in case of load and speed by the ratios between low, medium, and high loads and town, country road, and highway traffic, respectively. [Pg.751]

The usual emphasis on equilibrium thermodynamics is somewhat inappropriate in view of the fact that all chemical and biological processes are rate-dependent and far from equilibrium. The theory of non-equilibrium or irreversible processes is based on Onsager s reciprocity theorem. Formulation of the theory requires the introduction of concepts and parameters related to dynamically variable systems. In particular, parameters that describe a mechanism that drives the process and another parameter that follows the response of the systems. The driving parameter will be referred to as an affinity and the response as a flux. Such quantities may be defined on the premise that all action ceases once equilibrium is established. [Pg.422]

Similar to several other models, isotherm (93) has the virial form, with a linear dependence in the interaction term. The essential difference between them is related to another driving parameter of the system, which is called the electrical variable and which characterizes the state of the electrode while the bulk concentration of active species changes. The Frumkin isotherm is valid for a fixed... [Pg.107]

These elements are of different nature. Asset life-cycle docinnents the main phases of the life of the asset and its driving parameter is time. Implementation procediues and processes correspond to conceptual representations of actions and activities to carry out. Technologies are technical implementations enabling the deployment of the processes and the procediues during one ormore hfe cycle phases. Performance control and risk mitigation measures are conceptual and technical realizations of measures to implement when the asset performance exceeds the normal operational conditions. [Pg.369]

The addition of an organic modifier is common in MLC, however, this can change the cmc value of the surfactant used. It is also important to consider the effect of pressure on the micellar state of surfactants, since pressure is a driving parameter in liquid chromatography. [Pg.38]

The chassis as well as moveable vehicle parts are building the mechanical unit, which is represented by Block 7. This unit enables taking into account dynamic driving parameters such as wind and rolling resistance. [Pg.796]

Fig. 9.4. The new mixed model for metals in lakes. Load (or dose) parameters are related to the input of metals to the lake (direct load and load from the catchment), the metal amount in the lake water is distributed into dissolved and particulate phases by the partition coefficient (Kd). Sedimentation is net sedimentation per unit of time (the calculation unit is set to 1 year for Hg and 1 month for Cs). The sensitivity parameters influence biouptake of metals from water to phytoplankton (but they may also be used in other contexts, e.g., to influence the Kd-values, as illustrated by the dotted line, or the rate of sedimentation). The biological or ecosystem variables include pelagic and benthic uptake, bioaccumulation and retention time in the five compartments (lake water, active sediments, phytoplankton, prey and predator fish). The ejfect parameter is the concentration of the metal in predatory fish (used for human consumption). One panel gives the calculation of concentrations, another the driving parameters (model variables should, preferably, not be altered for different lakes, while environmental variables must be altered for each lake). The arrows between these two panels illustrate the phytoplankton biomass submodel... Fig. 9.4. The new mixed model for metals in lakes. The alternate selection procedure ends here. There is no guidance on Inbrication or other drive parameters. The drive designer should consult an ACA engineering steel chain manufacturer for assistance on these issues. [Pg.198]

Design of displays to keep the driver informed about important driving parameters such as speed and possible technical failure. [Pg.350]
